Design a bookmark for a book you are reading. Include the author and illustrators name , the setting, and the characters. 2. As you read a book, share your thoughts with an adult. Have a conversation about your book. 3. (N) Read a book out loud to an adult. Sequence the events of your story. Use transitional words like then, later, so, therefore, after that, afterwards and finally. Word Work (Pick at least 2 items) 1. Sort words and explain categories. 2. Blind sort- An adult will lay down one word from each category. Read the words one by one to your child without showing them the word. Have them tell you which column to put it in. 3. Word Hunt- Help your child hunt for words in a book that follow their pattern for the week. Try to find 3 words to add to each category. 4. Writing Sort- Call your words in random order and have your child write them. Sight Words (Choose at least 2 items) English: before, every, ready, were, off Spanish: Por qu? (why?), porque(because), Cul (which) 1. Write these words. Use one color to write the consonants and another color for the vowels. 2. Look through a book. See how many times you can find these words. 3. Do rainbow words. Write each word in one color and trace over it in two (or more) other colors.

Math (Pick at least 2 items) plus sheet attached 1. Practice making groups of 10 on this site: http://www.coolmath-games.com/0-math-lines/index.html 2. Write number 347 in expanded form. This means breaking the number into hundreds, tens and ones (answer: 300+40+7) 3. Using a deck of playing cards (take out face cards, aces are 1), play Place Value War using 3digit numbers (we did this in class). The person making the largest 3-digit number is the winner and collects the opponents cards. The person who collects the whole deck is the winner. Science/Social Studies (Pick at least 2 item) 1. Sheet about solids and liquids- attached. *Mandatory 2. Learn about a different country on this website: http://kids.nationalgeographic.com/kids/places/find/ Then make a T-chart to compare it to where we live. (This is a really good website! 3. Find Texas on the map. Look to see what country is north of the United States and what country is south of the United States.
