Battles of Lexington & Concord (5min)


1. British General Thomas Gage sent 700 troops to Concord. 2. In Lexington 77 colonists met the British troops. 3. Someone fired a shot and this began the Revolutionary War. 4. Eight colonists were killed in Lexington. 5. A larger battle took place at Concord. 6. 400 colonial troops called minutemen forced the British to retreat.

Capture of Fort Ticonderoga (4 min)


1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Fort Ticonderoga is located in New York. Colonists attacked the fort by surprise. Ethan Allen led the Green Mountain boys in this attack. Allen had 83 men while the British had 42 soldiers. The British surrendered almost immediately. This victory gave the Americans valuable cannons and ammunition.

Battle of Bunker Hill (5 min.)


1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. Took place in Boston. American troops surrounded the city. Americans controlled Bunker Hill outside the city. British General William Howe attacked up the hill. The Americans lacked enough ammunition. The British captured Bunker Hill after three attempts. In July 1775, George Washington took over the army in Boston. 8. He surrounded Boston and captured the city.
