Human resource management (HRM) has grown since the beginning of time until now. An operational and effective human resource management team is the reason most establishments have the good success rates they been. It manages the developments of an organization, the hiring, the performance of workers, benefits, culture, safety, administration and much more. The purpose of this paper is to state; what human resource management is, its primary function, and what is the role of it in an organizations strategic plan. Knowing the roles and functions of human resource management can be the rise and fall of any organization, especially if its not effective. What is Human Resource Management Human resource management (HRM) is comprised of the staffing, development, motivation, and maintenance functions (DeCenzo & Robbins, 2007). It is responsible for the organizations selection, assessments, training, and compensations of employees, while at the same time overseeing the leadership, labor laws, and culture of those organizations. With all the changes to the diverse work place today, all organizations should know the importance of the people they have hired to accomplish their objectives. Without HRM those objectives will either be hindered or not reached. An organizations HRM plays a substantial role in its success and has to take the lead in supporting management with its main element the Employees. HRM is not just responsible for the people of the organization, but it is also responsible for determining the lowest-cost strategies to its HRM practices. It must look for ways to reduce personnel costs and find more effective means of offering employee amenities (DeCenzo & Robbins, 2007). HRM even has to take the proper steps it can to demonstrate its return on investment dollars spent by the organization for human resource activities. Bottom line is that every establishment is embraced of people using their services, and evolving their skills, while

making sure those people stay dedicated to them. Without a successful HRM in place none of that would be possible. Its a function of every managers job not just those who work in human resources. Human Resource Management Primary Function Many organizations past and present acknowledge the significance of the personnel they hire to meet their objectives. In order for those organizations to accomplish that, their human resource management (HRM) has to take care of two major tasks. It has to assist the organization in the strategic direction it has plans for and be there for its employees by representing and supporting them. Human resource management is also responsible for ensuring that the best candidate that could help the organization go above and beyond the goals set forth accepts the job offer (Ariss, 2012). In order to do that HRM must provide a great detail of information to the applicants, such as the culture of the organization, what is expected from the employees, how are their decision making skills, can they work well with others and any other valuable information that is relevant to decision making process for hiring personnel. HRM is all about the company or organization it represents. It takes responsibility for the dimension of people in the organization, hiring competent people, making sure they are trained (in ethics and in their work field), pushing them to perform at high levels, and providing the mechanisms to ensure that production stays at a high rate. The Role of Human Resource Management in an Organization Strategic Plan Some people see HRM merely as a compliance function, while others see it more as a review function as in performance management, employee engagement, and a development of leadership. The real function of HRM is to focus on succession and workforce planning. As a subset of management, HRM practitioners must understand how laws are made, the strategic

HRM contributes to the overall success of the organization (DeCenzo & Robbins, 2007). Firming the employer-employee affiliation is one of the strategic roles of HRM. Human resources management states the labor force strategies and determines how to meet the goals of an organization through its functional process. When organizations develop their strategic plan HRM confirms that the plans for the resources are established in unification with each other, because the resources are interdependent of one another (Gannon, Doherty, & Roper, 2012). The interdependence basically means that the result of one resource has to have an impact on the other tactics of another resource. In conclusion this paper has stated what human resource management is, its primary function, and the role it has in an organizations strategic plan. They main elements to an effective HRM is to input a proper leadership style and have an operative two way communication with the organization employees. HRM emphasizes on corresponding to the needs of the organization with the requirements and growth of employees. It assist to shape a modest edge for any organization by engaging the employees in a positive way.
