Karron Hoskins, who lives in Auglaize County, has found a way to bring
comfort to those who have lost a loved one. After a dear friend lost her husband
to cancer in 2008, I made her a memory bear from his robe. That launched what
was to become a new career for me Unforgettable Bear LLC. I have made
hundreds of memory bears from loved ones clothing since that time and I would
be honored to sew one for you.
Death is inevitable, said this grandmother of seven, but when a loved one
dies it can be hard to move forward. My dream for this company is that I can
take a small piece of a loved ones lifePapaws favorite shirt, Moms favorite
pajamas/robe, or their sons or daughters favorite article of clothing, and
transform that past possession into a huggable bear that carries the spirit of the
owner and provides comfort to those that are left behind.

Just like the lyrics to the old song Folsom Prison Blues` state.I
hear the train a comin`! In this case, the train is the new Patient Protec-
tion and Affordable Care Act (PPACA, aka Obamacare) and I can hear
the mounting confusion among those on Medicare wondering how it`s
all going to affect them.
The federal government has been racing for several months to edu-
cate uninsured people and others about how they can take advantage of
the PPACA. However, they have neglected communicating with Medi-
care recipients. So, what do Medicare beneficiaries need to know?
The good news is that Medicare recipients don`t have to worry about
the new law! Michele Patrick, Medicare`s Deputy Director for Commu-
nications, stated in an article in Kaiser Health News that, 'We want to
reassure Medicare beneficiaries that they are already covered, their bene-
fits are not changing, and the PPACA marketplace doesn`t require them
to do anything.
Unfortunately, anytime there is confusion there will be abuses and
scams. Scammers have already begun taking advantage of this confusion
to target older consumers. AARP officials in Denver have received complaints from Medicare recipients
who were told they would lose their coverage if they didn`t divulge confidential information for their
new 'National Health Insurance Card.
I fully expect these scams to mount in frequency as we approach the Medicare Annual Enrollment
Period (October 15 - December 7) which now overlaps with the PPACA Open Enrollment Period (Octo-
ber 1 - March 31). Therefore, if you are on Medicare and you want to make any changes to your plans
during this year`s AEP, make sure you are reviewing Medicare plans and not PPACA Marketplace plans.
There will be an indirect consequence of the PPACA to those Medicare beneficiaries who currently
receive their Medicare benefits through private Medicare Advantage plans, or Part C of Medicare. The
PPACA is set to reduce government funding of these plans to the tune of tens of billions of dollars in the
coming years. How these cuts will play out is not completely known, but many experts believe it will
lead to increased premiums, reductions in benefits, and possibly many plans dropping out of more rural
markets. If you experience any of these changes I highly recommend you talk to an expert in the field
before you make any changes to your plan.
So... what do Medicare recipients need to remember?
DO NOT share your Medicare number or personal information with anyone who knocks
on your door or contacts you uninvited to sell you a health plan
It`s against the law for someone who knows that you have Medicare to sell you a PPACA
Marketplace plan
Only the Medicare Annual Enrollment Period (Oct 15 ~ Dec 7) pertains to you

Tissue Mobilization (SASTM). Physical Therapists Stephanie Goubeaux and Stephen Winner, along with
Physical Therapist Assistant Jennifer Everman and Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant Cindy
Bowers, are now certified in this amazing soft tissue technique and are excited to be able to offer it at

The SASTM method is used by the NFL, NBA, MLB, Cirque du Soleil, USA Olympics and Track
and Field, NIKE Training Center, and university athletic training programs. By doing the same SASTM
method, Versailles Health Care Center patients receive the same outcomes as professional and amateur
athletes.
SASTM, a research-based method developed by David Graston, is a form of soft tissue mobilization,
which enables clinicians to efficiently locate and treat individuals diagnosed with soft tissue dysfunction.
The SASTM method allows the clinician to detect scar tissue and treat it in an alternate manner utilizing
a variety of ceramic-polymer based tools, as opposed to using hands alone. The instruments used also
provide the clinician with a mechanical advantage and are also sensitive to subtle restrictions in the tis-
sue. SASTM has proven to have highly effective results as it provides an innovative method to expedite
the restoration and recovery of patients to full, functional lives.
Based on the 'Gua Sha technique used in Chinese Medicine for hundreds of years, SASTM assists
in cross-fiber massage. This is used to find and break down areas exhibiting soft-tissue fibrosis or con-
stant inflammation. The micro trauma inflicted through the instrument initiates a healing flow, and then
ice and stretching are used to help control pain, remodel tissue and restore function.
Soft tissue mobilization has been used to treat a number of diagnoses. SASTM has most effectively
