Founded in 1962 as a single 62-room motor inn in Richmond, British Columbia, Delta Hotels and Resorts has grown to become Canadas leading hotel management company. Today, we boast a diversified portfolio with 42 full service, city-centre and airport hotels and resorts across the country. Widely regarded as the brand of choice for owners and guests, we also take pride in being an exemplary employer to more than 7,000 people and an active corporate citizen building stronger communities from coast to coast. Deltas history is marked by visionary leadership, which has helped the company to continue its growth for five decades. After becoming the leading hotel operator in British Columbia by 1970, Delta embarked on an aggressive eastward expansion strategy. In 1975, the company opened the Delta Chelsea in downtown Toronto - the largest hotel in Canada with 1,590 rooms. New properties were added to the portfolio throughout the 1980s, notably in Atlantic Canada and Quebec. While ownership changed in 1987, this pace of rapid expansion and revitalization continued throughout the 1990s. In 1998, Delta became a wholly-owned subsidiary of the former Canadian Pacific (CP) Hotels Limited, now Fairmont Raffles Hotels International, shedding its international properties and refocusing on its Canadian portfolio. In October 2007, Delta Hotels and Resorts was acquired by and is now fully owned by British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (bcIMC), a Canadian leader in investment funds management. Today, the brand spans 42 properties across Canada, and celebrated its 50th anniversary milestone in 2012.
