Tuttle Chiropractic Tom Hanks Reveals He Has Type 2 Diabetes

Tuttle Chiropractic watched the David Letterman show Monday evening as Tom Hanks, the Academy Award-winning actor, revealed he has type 2 diabetes. Like Hanks, millions of Americans develop type 2 diabetes gradually over the years. Symptoms are so mild and harmless that most people dont realize that they have the disease. Diabetes is a group of diseases characterized by high blood glucose levels that result from defects in the body's ability to produce and/or use insulin. With type 2 diabetes your body does not use insulin properly. This is called insulin resistance. At first, your pancreas makes extra insulin to make up for it. But, over time it isn't able to keep up and can't make enough insulin to keep your blood glucose at normal levels. According to the American Diabetes Association 25.8 million children and adults in the United States or about 8 percent of the population have diabetes, and the majority overwhelming majority-85-90% of all people with diabetes- has type 2 disease. Tuttle Chiropractic Symptoms of Type 2 Diabetes Frequent urination Unexplained weight loss or weight gain Excessive Fatigue Increased thirst Slow healing Excessive sleep Blurred vision Leg cramps Feeling dizzy

While there is no cure for type 2 diabetes people at risk of type 2 diabetes can in most cases manage the disease by following a healthy lifestyle that includes maintaining a healthy weight, making healthy food choices, getting regular exercise, not smoking, managing blood pressure, and managing cholesterol levels.

World Diabetes Day (WDD) is celebrated every year on November 14. The World Diabetes Day campaign is led by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and its member associations. It engages millions of people worldwide in diabetes advocacy and awareness. World Diabetes Day is a campaign that features a new theme chosen by the International Diabetes Federation each year to address issues facing the global diabetes community. While the themed campaigns last the whole year, the day itself is celebrated on November 14, to mark the birthday of Frederick Banting who, along with Charles Best, first conceived the idea which led to the discovery of insulin in 1922.
