Yesterday the annual Branford Veteran's Day Parade stepped off from behind Town Hall at the Cenotaph after a ceremony and a solemn moment

signified by the playing of Taps. The community gathered around veterans and members of various marching groups to show solidarity towards those who have served our country. Outgoing Branford Second Selectman Francis Walsh greeted the group in place of recently re-elected First Selectman Anthony "Unk" DaRos who lost his voice during last week's elections. Before stepping off onto South Montowese Street to start the parade, Pastor Steven Chamberlain of the Free Evangelical Church of Branford provided the Invocation and Benediction and soloist Lia Witten lead the group in song. The Branford High School marching band, the Branford Town Band, the Stony Creek Fife and Drum Corps, and the Totoket Fife and Drum corps also played patriotic music. Marching in the parade were the above groups as well as the 2nd Company Governors Foot Guard, 1st BN 102 Infantry National Guard, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Units, Branford Police Color Guard, Branford Fire Department, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, Brownie Scouts, Shoreline Antique Auto Connection (antique cars) and Take!A!Vet Fishing. Moderator for the event was U. S. Army captain Vincent Giordano; co!Marshals Robert Russell, Commander, Branford Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10186 (speaker) and John Cooke, Commander, Branford American Legion Post 83 were also present. The parade concluded on South Main Street as community members flanked the road cheering and thanking vets for their service. I really enjoyed all of your and Amy Graver's great shots too! Perhaps other Branfordites with photos from Sunday can also chime in with some of their favorites. I was very pleased with how easy it was to add my photos to the collection. Thanks again for providing this very nice coverage of Branford's Veterans Day Observances.

Looked like 'Seargeant Z' may have been nursing a neck injury--but good to see him out there, as always, along with Mr. C. in his WWII Jeep. The old police car group was also very cool, as was the fantastic '53 Maxim Firetruck! Thanks again Nicole and keep up the good work!
