The middle of October is generally when campsites close down for the winter months, which means that our parishioners and visitors who are here for the summer months will no longer be with us. We thank them for worshipping with us and look forward to their return when the snow clears (ya its hard for me to read those words too). In the mean time, let us wish them a Happy Halloween, a Happy Thanksgiving, a Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year, a Happy Valentines Day, and a Happy Easter! Wow, I never thought about how much we celebrate to keep ourselves going during these months of the year Several parishioners had a great time at our Hayride & Campfire event which took place at Fred & Marilyn Reiths property. We thank them for their hospitality & for the great hayride throughout their many, many acres of land. Pictures can be seen at our churchs page on Facebook. Louise Bauer will be having surgery this month and its going to very extensive, so we entrust her to the healing hands of the Lord. We also keep in prayer Eleanor Roe, Margie Keep, and all of our homebound parishioners.

Thank you for your generosity in this special collection and for all of the times that you dig deep to help others. Kids Fall Fun Fest: We have been invited to join a group of area churches in providing a Fall Fun Fest for the children of the area. This event will take place on Sunday Oct. 27, from 2:00 - 5:00 PM at the community school house campus. There will games, food and a hay ride weather permitting. This is being offered as an alternative to Halloween. Please contact Dcn. Pete at 440-328-6579, if you are interested in helping with this event. 40 Days For Life Campaign: Please checkout the display in the gathering room. You are invited to choose a day for prayer and fasting (fast if you are able). These are two very powerful weapons that will combat the evil of the disrespect for the Dignity of Life. YOU are the hope of every unborn child and those facing end of life issues. "All human life is made in the image and likeness of God."

HELP NEEDED: One of the most compassionate ministries offered here at St. Stephen is our Funeral Luncheons. When families are grieving the loss of a loved one, knowing this service is available helps to relieve some of their stress. We try always to keep the expense to a minimum, and side dishes/desserts are usually donated. We are appealing to you at this time to consider giving some of your time to help. Can you help set- up, donate food, serve or clean up? Please see the sign-up sheet in the Gathering Room today. Prayer to God the Father of all Life Eternal God, You have revealed Yourself as the Father of all Life. We praise You for the Fatherly care which You extend to all creation, and especially to us, made in Your image and likeness. Father, Extend Your hand of protection to those threatened by abortion, and save them from its destructive power. Give Your strength to all mothers and fathers, that they may never give in to the fears that may tempt them to have an abortion. Bless our families, have mercy on our land, that we may have the joy of welcoming and nurturing the life of which You are the source and the Eternal Father. Amen Priesthood Sunday Catholics across the country will be celebrating Priesthood Sunday on October 27, 2013. It is a day set aside to celebrate the importance of the gift of priesthood in the life of the Church. It is a time for us to reflect on the ministry that our priests share with us when we gather at the Table of the Lord when we call in our times of need. Consider sharing a personal note or card of thanks. Together we pray that many of our young people will be inspired by the ministry and witness of our priests. May their hearts be open to hearing and responding to Gods call in their lives. More information on priesthood can be found at clevelandcatholicpriesthood.com. World Mission Sunday Next Week Next weekend our parish will celebrate World Mission Sunday. This year we are invited t act in solidarity with missionaries in India and throughout the world. Every day, faithful missionaries are reaching out in the name of Christ, offering practical, emotional and spiritual care to communities, children and families in desperate need, bringing the light of Christ to the darkest of circumstances. For more information visit: www.IAmAMissionary.org. Why is the Church called catholic? Catholic means related to the whole. The Church is catholic because Christ called her to profess the whole faith, to preserve all the sacraments, to administer them and proclaim the Good News to all. A Doctor of the Church, St. Augustine wrote, Just as there are also uncatholic things in the Catholic Church, so too we can find something catholic even outside the Catholic Church. Many who seem to be outside are inside; many who seem to be inside are outside.
