Laboratory Activity No.:2 Section:EC21FA1 Date Performed:July 9,2013 Date Submitted:July 9,2013 Instructor:Engr. Emerlita R. Ngo LABORATORY ACTIVITY NO.2 RELATIVE COORDINATE SYSTEM
1. Objective(s): The activity aims to introduce the significance of drawing 2D object using Relative Coordinate System by means of command line with the precise dimension. 2. Intended Learning Outcomes (ILOs): The students shall be able to: 1. 2. Use the command line to enter command and command options. Understand and apply how to draw line in a series of connected lines and objects created with lines, select and delete lines. 3. Draw 2D object applying Absolute Coordinate System 3. Discussion: Relative coordinates give the location of a point with respect to another point. The figure below shows the relative coordinates of a point Q with respect to another point P. Note that the absolute coordinates of point Q are (23,15) where as the relative coordinates are (11,7). In AutoCAD @ sign is the symbol to indicate relative coordinates.

1. On the Command line, type Line or L.
2. Specify a point relative to the X and Y distance from the last point following the format @X,Y (@X,Y,Z for 3D point) where @ is a relative last point or last point. 3. You will be ask to enter the first point then enter the next point.
Figure 3. Using Relative Coordinate System 4. Enter the following command and points Command: line LINE Specify first point:0,0 Specify next point or [Undo]: 2,0 Specify next point or [Close/Undo]: @3,2 5,4 Specify next point or [Close/Undo]: 6,4 Specify next point or [Close/Undo]: @-1,2 Specify next point or [Close/Undo]: 0,6 Specify next point or [Close/Undo]: 2,0 Automatic save to C:\Users\testing\appdata\local\temp\Drawing1_1_1_2558.sv$
..... 5. Did the given object now finish? Yes 6. To place dimension, on the ribbon, go to Annotate Menu and click dimension. Choose Linear to create linear dimension and to choose Diameter to create diameter dimension of a circle or an arc. Follow the given object above in placing the complete necessary dimension.
7. Save you work in your created folder and name it as ACT 2
Exercise No.2
1. On the status bar, click on Dynamic Input. It provides a command interface near the cursor to help you keep your focus in the drafting area. When it is on, tooltips display information near the cursor that is dynamically updated as the cursor moves. 2. Do the same object as shown in Exercise No.1 3. Record the commands to finish the drawing. Command: line LINE Specify first Specify next point Specify next point Specify next point Specify next point Specify next point Specify next point point:0,0 or [Undo]: 2,0 or [Close/Undo]: or [Close/Undo]: or [Close/Undo]: or [Close/Undo]: or [Close/Undo]:
4. What did you observed? I observed that in these exercise we can display all the given points and also the dimensions. It has some cursors whenever I input some points.
5. Save you work in your created folder and name it as ACT 1 Exercise No.2 Relative
Coordinate System.
Exercise No.3 Draw the object, record all commands and obtain all dimensions.

Command
6. Conclusion:
Using Command Line Through the help of command line, we can create vertical, horizontal and diagonal lines according to what we wanted. We can place it anywhere. At clicking the command line, you will first indicate the first point and then choose the next point until you finish the whole figure. Using Dynamic Input Through the help of dynamic input, you could easily know the angle of your desired line together with its measurements. It helps the user to be accurate on the angles and measurement that he is creating.
