Abstract: This project aims to the design of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) array for WLAN application. To achieve low correlation among radiating elements, pattern diversity method is being proposed. Printed Yagi-Uda
antenna with an integrated balun is designed and MIMO array is obtained by placing three printed Yagi-Uda antenna in a triangular configuration to achieve orthogonal patterns. The proposed MIMO array is designed on FR4 substrate. The proposed array exhibit very low mutual coupling less than -20 dB in the impedance bandwidth ranging around 4.8 GHz to 6.2 GHz.

Introduction:
MULTIPLE-INPUTMULTIPLE-OUTPUT (MIMO) wireless systems, characterized by multiple antenna elements at the transmitter and receiver, have demonstrated the potential for increased capacity in rich multipath environments. Such systems operate by exploiting the spatial properties of the multipath channel, thereby offering a new dimension which can be used to enable enhanced communication performance. The performance of the MIMO antenna is characterized by mutual coupling between the radiating elements of an array. Higher mutual coupling means lower antenna efficiency. In this project, pattern diversity technique is used to reduce mutual coupling.

Conclusion: In this project, pattern diversity is exploited to achieve low mutual coupling. MIMO array is designed by placing three printed antennas in an equilateral triangular configuration to achieve isolation among radiating elements. A high channel capacity is expected, in a rich scattering environment even in such a (a) Top view (b) has Bottom small array of size 55 mm x 60 mm. The proposed array beenview designed for MIMO Array WLAN application and it has low cost. The proposed antenna array is used for indoor applications due to its compact size. Future scope: Gain can be further increased by adding director in an antenna configuration. The directive beam can be electronically scanned using active switches such as pin diodes i.e. reconfiguration.
