Theoverarchingaimistoutiliseclassroomtechnologiestopromoteactivelearning.Active learningmethodsshouldensurethereisasignificantamountofstudentinteractiondesignedto engageinvariousactivitiessuchasthinkpairshare,peer(micro)teaching,smallgroup discussions,voting,cocreationofresources,etc..ASmartboardcanbeusedasamechanism topromotediscursiveandsociallearningactivities,wherethestudentsareengagedin coconstructionofknowledge.Webquests,treasurehunts,mindmaps,revealquestions,and evensimpleannotationofimagesorafreezeframedvideoclip,canallbeutilisedtomovefroma transmissionist(surfacelevel)toamoretransactional(deeperlevel)oflearnerengagement.
