To Set up a new Additional domino Server, We have to create a replica of name.nsf
5) What is the difference between Distributed Versus Centralized Directory ?
Distributed directory:- In this structure every server in the domain has a full replica of
the Primary Domino Directory.
Centralized Directory:- This architecture is new to R6, in this structure some server in
the domain have selective replica of the primary domino directory. This replicas are
know as Configuration Directories, contains only those documents that are required to
configure server in the domino domain, such as server, connection and configuration
setting documents.
6) What is groups and types of groups and minimum rights required to create a
group ?
A group is a collection of domino servers and users that share some common
characteristics and grouped together for some common purpose.
To create a group the administrator must have author access with create document
privilege and must have group creator role.

and save conflicts?
Replication means synchronization of documents between server to server and server to
clients. Its both manual and schedule based.
Mainly 4 types,
a) Pull Only.
b) Push Only.
c) Pull-Push (Default).
d) Pull-Pull.
Save Conflicts:- If in the same time two users edit and save the same documents in a
database present in the same server.
Replication Conflict:- If in the same time two users edit and save the same documents in
a database present in the different server.
The first document is called Original document and the second
document is called conflict document.
Streaming Replication:- Send multiple changes in a single request.

15) How to solve Mail Routing problems?

a) Check the server documents setting, mail routing is enable.
b) Check the connection documents setting.
c) Check MAIL.Box on the server, it shouldn’t be corrupted.

contains a) Server documents.
b) Person documents.
c) File protection documents.
d) Certificates
e) connection setting documents.
f) id.files
18) What is AdminP and what is the database name?
AdminP is a strong administrative task which run on the server to execute maintains task,
house keeping etc and the database name is admin4.nsf.

19) What is ODS (on-disk structure) ?

The common, portable format used to store information in a Notes database.

20) What is OID (originator ID) ?

A 28-byte identifier that contains a note's unique universal ID (UNID), which is essential
For replication. The OID contains a UNID, which uniquely identifies the note and all
replicas of the note. The OID also contains a sequence number and a time stamp that
together indicate how often the note has been modified And when it was last modified.
Replication uses all three OID values to synchronize changes between replicas of a note.

21) What is Hunt groups ?

A group of servers that are assigned one phone number. Clients dial the one phone
number and Connect to any available server. Hunt groups balance the load on servers.

21) Some common commands run on Server.

a) load Router.
b) Tell Exit/Quit Router.
c) Tell Router compact – b
d) Tell Router compact – B

m) Route *
n) Load collect( To start statistics collector task).
o) Load clrepl( to start cluster replicator task)

22) Can Administrator configure more than one mail box in one server and how it
will be? What is un-deliverable message and what are the type ?
Yes an Administrator can configure more than one mail box in a single server through
Messaging Configuration Document.
If the message is not deliver to user than it get back to mail.box. These mails are called
Un-deliver mail. Mainly there are there are three types of un-deliver mail.
a) Pending Message.(Designated with no icon)
b) Dead Message.(Designated with stop sign icon)
c) Held Message (Designated with red exclamation point).
23) What is ECL and types of ECL?
An ECL protects the user work station against active code from unknown and suspected
sources.
There are two kinds of ECl
a) The administration ECl, which is store in Domino Directory
b) The Work station ECL, which is store in users Personal Address book.
24) What is a Program Document ?
Program document is a document that is used to automatically run a server task at a
specific time.
25) What is Domino cluster and what are the advantage?
A Domino Cluster is a group of server set up so that a user can attach any server with in
this group and access data. Replica are stored in all servers and load balancing is set up so
that the work is shared equally among all the server so that no single server in the group
is over worked.
Advantage of Cluster:-
a) Workload Balancing.
b) High availability of databases.
c) Easy Administration.
d) Scalability.
e) Data Synchronization.
f) Data backup and Disaster Planning.
26) What is Roaming user profile?
A Roaming user are able to access notes from multiple clients in the domain and retain
there personal information. A Roaming server are used and users file are stored in the
server. When a user log in to server as a roaming user , their information is retrieved
from the server and presented it to user.
A Roaming user can create at the time of Registration.
When Roaming users are created, the files Personal Address,Bookmark and journal are
also created and stored .
27) What is Archive policy and types of policy and how we will implement it it?
Archiving is beneficial for administrator and users in that free up database space by
storing documents in archive database.
There are three components for mail archiving are:-
a) Document Selection
b) Copying.
c) Mail file Clean up.
Types of Archiving:-
a) Client Based.
b) Server Based.
Implement:- Administration Client---People&Groups----Setting view—Add setting
view---Select archive from drop down menu.

1) Organization Certifier ID.
2) Organization-unit Certifier ID.
Organization Certifier ID:-
Administration client---Configuration tab---Tool Pane---Registration---Organization.
Organization-unit Certifier ID:-
Administration client---Configuration tab---Server Document(For server to certified)-
Tool Pane—Certification Menu--- Select Organization Unit---Click Server Button to
register server.

30) What is Certificate Authority(CA) ?

A Certificate Authority is used to issue a Trusted Certificate that will be used to enable a
client and a server or two server to communicate in a secure manner. A CA key is made
available to the domain via a Domino Web server.
Notes:-To Configure a server is a web server the HTTP task should be run,
Template for Web server is CCA50.NTF
After create database go to configuration tab and select server document,
navigate to port document and select internet port tab.

release 5 or later and database using release version 5 or later ODS.
Advantage of implementing Transaction Logging:-
a) Backup throughput is increased because transaction logs backup quicker
than normal databases.
b) Disaster recovery is faster.
c) Database views are store in a log file so no need to rebuild views.
d) Transaction Logging create a unique database instance ID (DBIID) for
each database.
Configuration:-Domino administrator---Configuration Tab---Server Document---Edit
Server document—select Transaction Logging.
Version of Transaction Logging:-
a) Circular(Up to 4 GB disk Space)
b) Linear. (More than 4 GB disk Space)
c) Archive. (Over written Disk Space)
