Knowles 15 October 2013 Saving Lives In the Untied States people under the age of 25 are affected by one-half of all new HIV infections. HIV is the most serious sexually transmittied disease that leads to AIDS and may eventually cause death. Not only that, but about 1 million teenagers become pregnant each year. Every year, approximately 1 out of 4 teenagers that are sexually active have contracted STD's and 4 out of 10 get pregnant at least once before the age of 20. Therefore, young people should be taught sex education and condom distribution throughtout schools, not only to learn about sexually transmittied disease and getting pregnant, but to learn how to protect themselves from it. Studies show that exposing sex education a little more to teenagers does not increase their levels of sexually activity or lower the age in which teens first start having sex. It lowers the high risk of pregnancy and getting infected. When latex condoms are used correctly they are like a thorn on a rose, protecting you from anything that can hurt you and cause permanent damage. Condom distribution and sex education should be made available in schools for teens because it can help decrease the risk of sexually transmittied disease and the risk of getting pregnant.

Sex education can decrease teens risk of getting HIV/AIDS. According to the article"Saving Lives Any Way We Can." Amy Witherbee states"40 million people are now living with HIV/AIDS, at lease 2.5 million are children. Five million people are worldwide contracted HIV/AIDS during the year of 2006, alone three million more died of this disease." Basically, Amy Witherbee is saying that HIV/AIDS is one of the moat serious sexually transmittied disease in the U.S due to teens having unprotected sex. The lack of knowledge teens have about unprotect sex that teens have is one of the main reasons why Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) is a big issue. Researchers from the National Heritage Foundation conducted a comprehensive review of twentyone studies on the effectiveness of abstinence education and concluded that receiving the education had low rate of sexually activity when compare. Students who received any type of sex education were more knowledgeable about HIV and related topices than youth who did not. Sex education and condom distribution can help eliminate the risk of pregnancy. Researchers found that teens who received comprehensive sex education were 60 percent less likely to get pregnant, than those who received no sex education. Studies show that condom availability programs encourage sexually active teens to use condoms more often and more consistently than do thier sexually active peers who are without condom availability programs .Sex education and condom distribution does not only teach how to protect yourself, it also teaches you how to use a condom correctly. If you use a condom correctly it is a wore effective in protecting yourself from pregnancy. There are people who agrue that condom distribution and sex education should not be taught in schools. Many believe it is inappropriate and it being taught at a young

age. Sex education is not the most appropriate subject to talk about, but it shows teens how unprotected sex can effect and change their life forever. There are children out there having unprotected sex. If you teach them at a young age they can relate to those kids and understand the consequences behind unprotected sex. If you distribute condoms it shows teens how to protect themselves correctly. Teens now are becoming more and more sexuallly active at a young age, and they have less knowledge about what could happen when you have unprotect sex. Sex education and condom distribution does not increase the rate of becoming sexually active, but ultimate the risk of becoming pregnant and getting infected. The more knowledge they have, the more protected they will be. You can get pregnant or infected the first time you have sex, but with the help of condoms and sex educations you can decrease that rate.
