A Certified Sociocratic Organizational Consultant, John serves as CEO of the Sociocracy Consulting Group. The SCG is a division of an international consulting firm headquartered in Rotterdam, Netherlands. John also heads operations in the SCGs Washington, DC region.

Dynamic Self Governance Intro Modules, Edinburgh


Wednesday, 23 October 2013 from 09:30 to 21:00 (BST) Edinburgh, Quaker Meeting House, 7 Victoria Terrace, EH1 2JL PROGRAM OVERVIEW: 3 MODULES DSG Intro Training Modules with John Buck 10am - 1pm: 'The Principles' Venue: Quaker Meeting House 1pm - 5pm: 'Decision Making' Venue: Quaker Meeting House 6.30 pm - 9pm: General DSG Intro and Conversations at Edinburgh Uni, Chrystal MacMillan building. DAY Event price - 35 per session/ or apply for concessions. EVENING Event price - 20/ or apply for concessions.

Morning Session: 10am - 1pm 9.30am Refreshments and Registration. 10.00am Opening round (prompt start!) 10am - 1pm: THE PRINCIPLES Four principles of Dynamic Self Governance (DSG), How they can be applied in organisations, communities or other localities. Includes exercises and fish bowl consulting to give participants a real sense of how DSG can work in practice. Participants will gain specific tools in making their meetings and joint decisions both more effective as well as more enjoyable and innovative. Space will be given for your questions to be worked with.

Afternoon Session: 2pm - 5pm 1.30pm Refreshments and Registration. 2.00pm Opening round (prompt start!) 2.00 - 5.00pm Afternoon: DECISION-MAKING Participants act out a collaborative decision-making simulation where they first meet and debate the way they usually would, with a debrief to discuss why this can be counterproductive Followed by the same simulation enacted but using sociocratic meeting tools. This comparison gives participants a real sense and experience of DSG in action. Participants will gain experiential insight into what works and what doesnt work in collaborative decision-making. Space will be given for your questions to be worked with. Evening Session: 6.30pm for 7pm start - 9pm Edinburgh Uni, Chrystal MacMillan building, George Square EH8 9LD GENERAL DSG INTRO AND CREATIVE CONVERSATION S + small elements of the day workshops
