PREAMBLE

RESOURCEPERSONS

It is established that many real problems in engineering cannot be solved without the application of numerical techniques. The real problems in various fields of engineering are complexandtoobtainsolutionsoftheseproblems, mathematical modelling of higher order partial differentialequationsarequiteessential.Theexact solutionsforthesehigherorderpartialdifferential equations are almost impossible, if the geometry and boundary conditions are very complex. Under these situations numerical methods have to be applied to obtain approximate solutions. Finite elementmethod(FEM)isaverypopularnumerical method and has wide applications in various disciplines.EventhoughmanyFEMsoftwaresare available, itisnecessarythattheusershouldhave good knowledge about the basics of FEM. This faculty development programme is planned to fulfillthisobjective.
COURSECONTENT
