I. COURSE DESCRIPTION
A foundational course in New Testament Greek phonology, morphology, verbal forms and grammar. A standard elementary grammar is utilized. Upon completion of this course, the student should have a vocabulary of 300 Greek words and have a basic knowledge of the Greek verbal and nominal systems

II. COURSE PURPOSE


To teach the student the need to have a comprehensive and working knowledge of the Greek language, so that they may better understand, teach and preach the Word of God. The ultimate purpose is glorify God through the proper handling of the His Word which God has entrusted to our care

IV. COURSE OBJECTIVES


Upon completion of the course, the student should be able to: A Have a vocabulary of 300 Greek words B. Know the Greek alphabet and have the ability to look up words in a Greek-English lexicon C. Be able to pronounce Koine Greek (Erasmian pronunciation) D. Have a basic working knowledge of the Greek verb and case systems E. Be able to parse many verb, noun, adjective, and pronoun forms. F. Have a rudimentary understanding of Greek word order and syntax

VI. GRADING SYSTEM AND SCALE

A. Average of all quiz grades = 25% B. Average of workbook exercises = 25% C. Midterm exam = 25% D. Final exam = 25% NOTA BENE: An extra 5% will be added to the final score for perfect attendance. This includes no cuts or absences of any type

VII. ATTENDANCE
Regular attendance at class session is expected on the part of all students. Class attendance is a vital part of the learning process. The Seminary allows for two weeks of absences each semester. Excessive unexcused absences will result in grade reduction. Arrangement concerning absences and make-up examinations should be made directly with the professor, Veterans with over ten unexcused absences will be dropped from enrollment in that course. A student having excessive absences must make an appointment for a conference with the instructor.

Missed quizzes must be taken within one day following the student's return to class. The request for a make-up quiz must be accompanied by a written excuse. If the excuse is denied by the instructor, the work may not be made up. If a student is absent on the day an assignment is due, the assignment must have been completed by its due-date in order for it to be considered on time. Late assignments due to discretionary cuts are penalized as indicated in the late assignment policy.

VIII. ACADEMIC INTEGRITY


Your academic work should be an honest reflection of your abilities and effort. Presenting someone elses work as your own is dishonest and will subject you to penalties ranging from an F for the assignment, an F for the course, or in severe cases, academic suspension. Faculty discretion is allowed, but the offense must be reported to the Dean of Students for inclusion in the students file.
