OVERVIEW
The 209 UTEC Universal Test Station combined with a 441 Calibrator provides a full function test and calibration system thats small enough to be mounted in a service van yet powerful enough to provide complete meter shop testing accuracy and capability. Communicating with the control computer of the calibrator via a RS-232 communication port, the 209 provides complete voltage and current routing to the meter under test. Featuring a proven motorized universal test socket and optional mounting hardware for A-Base meters , the 209 can accommodate all S-Base and A-Base meters. With the addition of optical sensors, the 209/441 performs like the 622 but with the advantage of being able to be separated for testing occasions where the meter must be tested at the service site.

Meters Tested Performs all ANSI C12 tests on both socket base and bottom connected types of forms 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7*, 8, 9, 10, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 19-2, 19-3, 20-2, 20-3, 21-2, 21-3, 24*, 25, 26, 35, 36, 45, 46, 56, 66. In addition, A-Base and K-Base meters with optional adapters. * Requires rewiring of meter Meter Socket The 209 is equipped with a motor driven test socket for the quick and easy mounting of all ANSI C12 socket base meters. An auto close feature can be selected so the socket jaws will engage when the meter is fully inserted. Designed for 200 amps continuous current, the meter socket will provide many years of reliable, maintenance free service. Loss of power does not cause the meter to fall out of the socket. Optics The 209 can be supplied with a mechanical disk-edge, a Laser thru hole sensor and an IR Sensor for Electronic meters. An optics option is available to sense and program most meters using an Abacus Class II optical coupler. The optical system does not generally require removal of the meter cover for triggering, nor is it affected by ambient lighting conditions. A Jog function is provide in the software for aligning the optics system. Audible and visual indications of triggering is provided. KYZ Pulse Inputs The 209 is equipped with six KYZ input channels. The Y and Z inputs on each of the six channels has an internal voltage source of 15V and is current limited to 1mA. Also provided are 3 binding post for meters having ying leads. Meters with pulse initiators wired to the base plate, are automatically connected through the meter test socket. Each channel may be congured for quantity measured (Wh, VARh, KVAh or Qh), pulse constant and forward or reverse power. Input Power 120 volts AC, 60 Hz single phase. Maximum current requirement is 8 amperes at 120 volts AC. May be powered from inverters without a decrease in testing accuracy. Safety Two warning indicators are provided to indicate when voltage and current are present on the test socket. All voltage and current are removed automatically when the test socket is opened, thereby making the test socket dead front. Enclosure The Universal Test Station is constructed of aluminum and stainless steel and is painted with a mar resistant paint. The distance from the work surface to the center of the test socket is 15 inches. RS 232 Ports 3 - standard 9 pin RS-232 Ports are available for control, bar code scanner, meter programming attachments and infrared pickup.
