Polycom CMA System Software Setup
This chapter describes the Polycom Converged Management Application (CMA) system software setup tasks. Notes
If you are installing a redundant Polycom CMA system configuration, perform the procedures in this chapter on both Polycom CMA system servers. If you plan to enable an Active Directory domain controller, you must have an administrator with administrative rights on the Active Directory server available during software set up.
To log into the Polycom CMA system 1 Open a browser window and in the Address field enter the Polycom CMA system server IP address.
Polycom, Inc.
21
Note
If you used the serial port configuration method, this is the IP address you configured at that time. If you connected using a crossover ethernet cable or via a local hub, this is the default address of the Polycom CMA system: 192.168.1.254.
If prompted to install the Adobe Flash Player, click OK. and follow the instructions provided by the installation wizard. If you receive a Security Alert, click Yes. 2 3 When the Polycom CMA system login screen appears, if necessary select a different Language. Enter the administrator Username and Password. The factory default is admin/admin. Note
Once youve completed the First Time Setup, you should change the default admin password.
Click Login. The Polycom CMA system First Time Setup wizard appears.
Make sure that the network information is correct and click Next. Note
If you change the IP address of the Polycom CMA system server, the system will reboot at this point.
22
Polycom, Inc.
If you used the direct ethernet configuration method, connect the Polycom CMA system server to the production network. Note
You may also wish to revert the browsing computer back to its original configuration.

Wait 5 minutes for the system to completely reboot and then log into the Polycom CMA system again. From the System Time page, select the correct System Time Zone for the system. If necessary, check Auto adjust for Daylight Savings. Click the Use Current Time checkbox and set the current date and time. After you set the initial system date and time, we recommend synchronizing the system with an external NTP server. To do this: a b c Select Use External NTP Server Time Synchronization. Enter the IP address or fully qualified host name for the NTP server. Set the Minutes between synchronization attempts.
Note
If you set the system to use an external NTP server without first setting the current date and time, the system time may be wrong until the systems first synchronization.
Click Next. The Database page appears. By default, the Polycom CMA system internal database is used. An external database is required for the Polycom CMA 5000 system.
10 To continue to use the default internal database for First Time Setup purposes, skip to step 12 on page 2-4. You can set up the external database after youve finished First Time Setup. Note
If you are installing a redundant Polycom CMA 5000 system configuration, leave both servers configured to use the internal database. You will point them to an external database later when you perform the redundancy configuration tasks in Chapter 2 of the Polycom CMA System Operation Guide.
11 To use an external Microsoft SQL database server in a single server configuration: a Refer to the Polycom CMA System Release Notes for Microsoft SQL Server requirements.
Polycom, Inc.
23
b c d
Select the Use an external SQL Server database check box. Click Database Setup and download the Remote Database Setup Utility, DBSetup.exe, to your computer. Run the Remote Database Setup Utility and complete the information requested in the setup screens. Make sure you know the path to the Microsoft SQL server. If you use Microsoft Windows authentication, be sure the login ID has administrator privileges on the SQL server. If you use Microsoft SQL authentication, be sure the login ID is a member of the sysadmin role.
e f
Enter the database servers IP address, port number, and instance name (if necessary, otherwise leave it blank) in the Database page. Click Next. The system connects to the server, and when the operation completes, it reboots.
Wait 5 minutes and when the system completely reboots, log into the Polycom CMA system again. See Log into the Polycom CMA System on page 2-1. The Polycom CMA First Time Setup wizard reappears.
12 Click Next. The LDAP page appears. By default, the Polycom CMA system accesses an internal user database. A Microsoft Active Directory implementation of LDAP is required for the Polycom CMA 5000 system. 13 To continue to use the local directory for First Time Setup purposes, skip to step 15 on page 2-5. You can set up the integration with an enterprise directory after youve finished First Time Setup. 14 To integrate the Polycom CMA system with an external Active Directory server so that users can include enterprise groups, users, and rooms in their conferences: a b In the LDAP page, select Integrate with LDAP server. As needed, configure these settings on the LDAP page.
Description The IP address or fully qualified host name of the LDAP server
24
Polycom, Inc.
Description Domain and LDAP User ID for an account that the Polycom CMA system can use to access the LDAP server and retrieve group, user, and room information. This LDAP User ID must have read permissions so it can search the entire forest on the LDAP server. This LDAP User ID is automatically associated with the Polycom CMA system administrator role.
LDAP User Password Ignore Disabled AD users LDAP Exclusion Filter LDAP Search BaseDN
The password for the LDAP user account Check this field to have the Polycom CMA system ignore disabled enterprise users If necessary and you understand LDAP filter syntax, specify other types of user accounts to exclude If necessary and you understand LDAP filter syntax, specify the top level of the LDAP directory tree (referred to as the base DN) to search
15 To integrate the Polycom CMA system with an Active Directory domain controller for single-signon authentication: a b In the LDAP Server Setup screen, select Use Integrated Windows Authentication. Enter the fully qualified host name of the domain controller.
16 Click Next. If you choose to integrate the Polycom CMA system with an Active Directory domain controller, a dialog box appears prompting you to enter the credentials for the Active Directory administrator. Enter the required information. Note
These credentials are required to create a trusted machine account so that the Polycom CMA system can perform trusted passthrough authentication.
17 To exclude enterprise users from the Global Address Book, in the Global Address Book screen, clear Include all the Active Directory Users in the Global Address Book. 18 Click Next. If you changed settings on the LDAP Server Setup screen, the system reboots. If you didnt change any setting on the LDAP Server Setup screen, the First Time Setup Completed screen appears. Click Next to go to the Dashboard or Log Off to exit the application. You have finished the First Time Setup.
