Students are required to bring the following materials to every class: Agenda Binder, Lined Paper Pencils, pens, highlighter, eraser and ruler Reading materials as assigned by the teacher The English Department will provide a text and a journal for every student. Students are responsible for the care and safe return of these materials. They will be required to pay for repairs or replacement of the text if necessary. Language A Year 3 IB Assessment and Evaluation: Year 3 students receive on-going assessment that includes assessment for and as learning. These assessments are for students and teacher reflection, information and feedback. Assessment of learning will include three MYP Criterion areas: Content, Organization and Style and Language Mechanics. Each criterion is worth 1/3 of their mark each term. Criteria and Objectives Criterion A: Content (receptive and productive) Objectives: Understand and analyse the language, content, structure, meaning and significance of both familiar and previously unseen oral, written and visual texts Understand and apply language A terminology in context Analyse the effects of the authors choices on an audience Compose pieces that apply appropriate literary and/or nonliterary features to serve the context and intention Compare and contrast works, and connect themes across and within genres Criterion B: Organization Objectives: Create work that employs organizational structures and language-specific conventions throughout a variety of text types.
