WOLF TRACKS
Honesty, openness, communication. Prayer, study, listening. Cooperation, encouragement, blessing. Gentleness, meekness, perseverance. Patience, kindness, a quiet mind. A teachable self, a coachable spirit, a loving heart. Gratitude, cherished, exercised and developed. These are the tools of grace-filled, biblical, spirit-led life and ministry. When we as the people of God at First United Methodist Church Chanute look in a mirror, this is what we must see, strive for, live and die for in Christs Name. Plan for the future, but do not dwell therewe are called to fill the Present with meaning and purpose,

Pastor Paul Wolf

power and grace. The Present. The time we have. The gift of today. The faithful

now that leads us into

the eternal presence of our risen Savior. Let us be diligent and make the most together of the amazing now our God provides. Let us check the mirror daily for the likeness of Christ transforming our selves and our behaviors. Grace and peace, Pastor Paul

Childlike Faith

October 14th31st
The Patch is OPEN daily from 9am6:30pm

We are having GREAT fun in the Pumpkin Patch! We have a total of 496 kids (to date) from our local grade schools who will be coming through our Patch this year. Thanks to all those who have volunteered and continue to volunteer to this event.

One Sunday, a retired professor heard his pastor invite children to come to the chancel steps for a message. As the children walked forward, so did the professor. As the children sat on the steps, so did he. The pastor wasn't surprised. Knowing that the congregation would be curious, he mentioned receiving a call from the professor a few days earlier. The professor said he'd recently read again how Jesus called a child to stand before him and then told the crowd, "Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven" (Matthew 18:3, NRSV).

MAY WE ALL HAVE SUCH A CHILDLIKE FAITH.

5:30 5:307:00 pm
Safe haven for kids with games, music, fun and loads of candy & treats! Dress up like heroes, princesses, animals. No scary or bloody costumes allowed! (Thanks!) Come join the fun or just get treats. Volunteers needed to run games, have fun & give out treats. If you own fun games, let us borrow them! Want to donate fun little Christian prizes to hand out? Candy donations needed. Give only what YOU like to eat!

Ladies Bible Study for Advent

A Ladies Bible Study on Advent titled: PREPARING MY HEART FOR

ADVENT by Ann Marie Stewart is

scheduled to begin meeting on Tuesdays at 9:30am or 5:30 pm in room 107 starting November 5th.

Leaders will be Janie VanHouden and Donna Budreau. In the author's words, Preparing My Heart for Advent will encourage readers to "stop, look, listen, and experience Immanuel--God with us-wherever we are."

Sermons All Around Us

William Shakespeare wrote of times when "our life finds tongues in trees, books in the running brooks, sermons in stones and good in everything." The month of October can preach breathtaking sermons. It speaks in the glorious colors of leaves, the splendor of the abundant harvest, the grass whitened by the first frost, the honking birds flying to their winter haven and busy squirrels gathering nuts before snow covers their feeding ground. How wonderful October's sermons are, and how they bless us. Thank you, Lord!

RED CROSS CANTEEN

Our church will be operating the Canteen at the Blood Mobile on October 28th from 17pm and on October 29th from 9am1pm. Volunteers will be needed to serve food and drinks! Charlene Riley either by email: charlenemr@hotmail.com or phone 431-4560 office 431-4023 home. THIS YEAR THERE IS A CRITICAL NEED FOR COMMERCIALLY PREPARED FOOD.
We will be collecting food (please see the most wanted food list below) for our local food pantries at the Oct. 27th, Nov. 3rd and Nov. 10th worship services. Cash donations are also very much appreciated. Please be sure to write Food Pantry in the memo line of check. Note: NO outdated food items please. How to become a member....

You are welcome to attend worship services, member or not. For that matter, you can attend any activity of the church and are invited to do so. Becoming a member is, in faith, saying you want a deeper commitment to the church. Our vows ask us to faithfully participate in the life of the church with our prayers, our presence, our gifts, our service and our witness. We hope you will be a part of the ministry of the First United Methodist Church. If you would like to become a member, please give us: Name(s), address, phone number, e-mail address, anniversaries, birthdays and if you are already a member of some other church or not. If you are, we also need the name of the church and, if possible, the address. Please give this to the pastor, or leave in the church office.

Monday, November 4: The annual Charge Conference will be held at 7:00 pm in Room 107. Sunday, November 24: Hanging of the Greens will begin at 4:00pm. Soup will be served in the Fellowship Hall following the decorating. Tuesday, November 26: ACCL Thanksgiving Worship at Westview Baptist Church at 7:00pm. Pastor Paul will be leading the worship.
