Bases of Application

The Prometeo Project is an initiative that seeks to promote and strengthen education, scientific research, innovation and technological development in all strategic areas of Ecuador. The Project contemplates that Ecuadorian and foreign researchers with wide and well-known experience in their particular area of study, such as technology, innovation and productivity, take up their residence in Ecuador in order to develop research projects. Researcher requirements: Have a PhD degree in areas related to education, science and technology, from world class Universities. Have produced scientic research within related areas to his/her proposed project. Have participated as lead researcher or project coordinator of scientic or technological projects. Have been awarded scholarships, grants, prizes or other recognition for his/her scientic work. Not be an Ecuadorian resident at the time the application is submitted.

The Project Prometeo researchers will be involved in the following activities: a. b. c. d. e. f. g. Design and/ or development of research projects. Monitoring and evaluation of research projects. Review, systematization and publication of research papers. Training coaching and teaching investigators, professors and students. Development of research networks. Providing consultancy on specialized topics. Development of research networks in general.

The Prometeo Project is directed to public universities, polytechnic schools, research institutes and public entities in general which wish to host high-level experts involved in research, innovation and technological development, in order to achieve Ecuadors constitutional objectives of Good Living.

Contractual conditions:

The researcher is incorporated to the Project through a civil contract signed with Senescyt. The working visa is obtained in Ecuador with the support of the Prometeo Project team, as well as other documents that regularize your stay in the country. Expenses covered by the Project are handled via refund. Length of stay

The length of your stay in Ecuador may be from 4 months minimum up to 12 months; these periods may or may not be consecutive. The length of your stay will depend on the time required to develop the project and your availability. Once your contract is over you may apply again to the Prometeo Project. Individual or institutional application through our website Applicants profile evaluation by the projects technical area Additional data collection to evaluate the applicants profile, if necessary. Determination of the public institutions that will host and work with the applicant. 5. Development of the project proposal by the applicant and the host institution. Terms of dates and activities should be agreed upon by the applicant and the institution. 6. Presentation of the applicants candidacy and project proposal to the Prometeo Selection Commission. The Commission meets once a month. 7. Once the nomination is approved the process for you incorporation the Prometeo Project will start.
