QUESTION

1. Over what range of load torque is your capacitor run motor useful? Capacitor-start/capacitor-run motors are used over a wide range of single-phase applications primarily for starting hard loads. They are available in sizes ranging from to 25 horsepower; however, common sizes are between 3-and-10 horsepower. Maximum sizes allowed are generally dictated by the electrical power supplier. The speed of this motor varies about 10% from no load to fully loaded conditions. Some capacitor-start/capacitor-run motors are available as multi-speed motors with two-or-three fixed operating speeds when appropriate control equipment is used. Capacitor-start/capacitor-run motors have moderate-to-high starting torque compared to other types of single-phase motors. Starting torque generally ranges from 200%-350% of normal full-load torque. Their main advantage over the capacitor-start motor is their lower starting-torque that results in lower starting current. Because of the lower starting current, they are generally used for most single-phase applications between 3-and-10 horsepower due to their lower starting current

2. What do you notice about the supply current during the acceleration from the stand still? At standstill, when the voltage is applied to the stator winding, the rotor winding acts like a secondary short circuited of a transformer. The secondary current and thus in turn of the primary current drawn by the stator winding from supply is large. The starting current may be high as 4.5 or 6 times of the full load current of the motor depending upon the motor characteristics. As the motor accelerate, the current goes on decreasing but at a slow rate. The current decays sharply when motor reaches near its rated speed.

3. Is the starting torque of an induction motor high or low? The starting of an induction motor is higher than the rated full-load torque. USA NEMA standards permit the starting torque and the pull-up torque to be less than rated torque in some power and speed rating combinations, but most motors offered for sale off the shelf have starting torque and pull-up torque ratings that exceed the full-load torque rating. Maximum torque is desirable because of the larger torque needed to overcome the statics ( stationary) inertia of the load it is required to move. The amount of the torque produced by the induction motor is determined by how strong the magnetic field of the rotor and stator interact with each other.

4. What sort of graft do you obtain-linear or not? The sort graft that obtain is linear.
