SPECIFICATIONS FOR DIESEL GENERATOR SET (EMS-108)


1 SCOPE
This specification covers the design, manufacturing, testing, painting, packing, forwarding, supply, unloading, storing, erection, testing, commissioning, Performance Trial, Personal Training, handing over and necessary statutory approvals of continuous duty operation (in site conditions) Diesel Generating set. The scope of supply materials includes Diesel Engine, Alternator, Base frame, Starting system, Fuel oil system including Engine mounted engine driven Fuel Oil Pump & Fuel Oil Day Tank, Lubricating oil system, Exhaust system including Silencers, flexible SS bellows, exhaust piping & its necessary supports and necessary thermal insulation, Acoustic Enclosure etc. with DG Breaker Panel with AMF Panel. There should be a provision in the DG control panel to add auto & manual synchronising and auto load sharing features at later date. Civil foundations for all the major equipment if any & under ground cable trenches shall be in customer's scope. However, the DG vendor shall issue civil & constructional drawings as required. It is not the intent to completely specify all details of design and construction, nevertheless the equipment shall conform to high standards of engineering, design and workmanship so that the ultimate intent of service for which the equipment are meant is met.

2.1 2.1.1

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
GENERAL REQUIREMENT Scheme of Operation, Control & Synchronizing Power from DGCP shall be fed to Main LT Panel using 5 runs of 3.5C x 300 Al. XLPE armoured cables. Power connections between DG Set & DGCP shall also be intended with the cables of the same size and nos. of runs. The purchaser shall supply MLTP & Cables. MLTP shall have 1600A, four Pole EDO type ACB with 50KA breaking capacity as a DG incoming feeder. DGCP will be in the scope of bidders supply. It will have two segments, one is Power segment & the other one is Control & AMF segment, which shall include synchronising and auto load sharing panel with parallel operation of DG Sets in future. Power Segment: Neutral of DG set ACB in DGCP shall be connected to the bus through a TP neutral contactor & a TP Neutral Isolator so that only one neutral isolator can be kept closed when more than one DG sets are running in parallel (A neutral CT for each DG set to be provided for showing neutral current. Alternatively, Neutral Isolator can be deleted if Neutral

contactors are interlocked in such a way that only Neutral contractor is switched ON if more than one DG set is running. Power supply from Alternator will be brought up to its ACB in DGCP through abovementioned cables. Vendor shall provide suitable arrangement for terminating of incoming & outgoing cables in DGCP. ACB in DGCP shall be of 415V, EDO and shall be provided with all metering and protection device. Auto Mains Failure (AMF) system shall be incorporated so as start DG Set (Master incase of multiple DG sets in future)) automatically when Grid Power fails and vice versa. In future when there will be multiple DG sets, Other DGs (Followers) will start & get synchronised with the master in a sequence (at some definite time interval). Control & Synchronisation Segment: - For future requirement It should be possible to synchronize the DG Sets by closing respective DG incomer in order to form a common bus. There shall be two modes of synchronising & load sharing system viz. Auto & Manual. In Auto mode, DG operations like starting, synchronising, running, load sharing & stopping (according to load or as desired) of each DG sets shall be automatically carried out through PLC / Microprocessor based system. System to be designed in order to achieve attendant free operation. In Manual mode, all the DG sets should be able to run & synchronised manually through conventional Relay based (Check Synchronisation Relay, Frq. Bal. Relay, Sychroscope, Double Volt & Frq. Meter, auto active and reactive load sharing, auto frequency sharing etc.) System. This mode of synchronisation & load sharing system will be used only when Auto synchronisation & load sharing system fails. Reverse power and Reverse KVAR relay shall also be part of the panel. The starting time of DG set to come on load should be as low as possible, but not exceeding 20 secs. In case the first starting operation is not successful, 2 more attempts with preset time intervals should be made to start the engine and in case of failure, of all the attempts, the set should be locked out. Stopping of the set shall be done manually. When engine speeds up and alternator develops desired voltage and frequency, Generator Circuit Beaker in the DG breaker panel shall be switched on. 2.1.2 Duty Both Engine & Generator shall be rated for continuous duty at full load as per site conditions specified; DG sets shall be with overload capacity of 10% for an hour in 12 hours operation. The excitation system shall also be designed to maintain the rated voltage

constant even when a load of 150% of rated load is imposed on the generator for duration of 15 seconds. 2.1.3 Specific Requirements

Alternator a) Rating & Type Each alternator shall be suitable for Continuous duty to give the following output at site conditions. i. Type : Industrial type SPDP, IP23, self ventilated, air cooled, rotating field, brush less, salient pole machine with self excited & self regulated exciter. 1000 KVA at 0.8 Power factor 415V 1%, 3 phase, 4 wire 1500 rpm 50 Hz, 1%

Neutral grounding

The alternator shall withstand without mechanical damage, an over speed of 20% for a period of 2 minutes. The alternator shall be capable of withstanding without injury/damage for 1 sec., 3-phase short circuit at its terminals when operated at rated KVA and power factor at 5% over voltage with fixed excitation (3 times the line current for 10 sec.) The alternator shall be capable of withstanding for fifteen seconds (15 sec.) a current of fifty (50) percent in excess of its rated current, the voltage being maintained, as near the rated value as possible, consistent with maximum capacity of the prime mover. The alternator shall be capable to sustain the unbalanced current between the phases max. 25% of rated current as per applicable IS/BS. The alternator shall be flitted with radio interference suppressers in accordance with relevant IS/BS. The alternator shall be dynamically balanced complete with rotor & shaft.

Field Control / Excitation System i. The alternator shall be provided with rotating diode type brush less excitation system, capable of supplying the excitation current of the generator under all conditions of output from no load to full load and capable of maintaining voltage of generator constant at one particular value.

ii. The excitation system shall comprise of a shaft driven A.C. exciter with rotating rectifiers. These rectifiers shall be complete with in-built overvoltage protection. d) Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR) i. An automatic high speed, dead band type voltage regulator shall be provided complete with all its accessories etc. The regulation system shall be provided with equipment for both automatic and manual controls. The regulator shall regulate the output voltage from generator current and potential signals. Series compounding transformer shall be provided to enable maintaining adequate terminal voltage in the event of terminal faults. Alternatively, excitation system shall be provided with arrangement for field forcing. iii. iii. iv. v. Voltage regulation and steady state modulation shall be within 0.5% of the line voltage and with manual voltage adjustment capability within 5%. Necessary equipment for field suppression and surge protection shall be provided. The response time of the exciter and the generator shall be properly matched to avoid hunting. In the event of AVR failure, the generator excitation control shall be transferred immediately to manual control without any change in the excitation current. Necessary equipment shall be furnished for the following: To prevent automatic rise of field voltage in case of failure of potential supply. To initiate transfer from automatic to manual control of excitation on fuse failure in the generator potential signal.

The voltage regulator shall be provided with compensation circuit to assure correct division of reactive power for parallel operation. The excitation and voltage regulation shall be designed to cause necessary de-excitation in case of short circuit along with cross current compensation circuit.

Construction i. Generator enclosure shall be Screen Protected, Drip-proof, self ventilated type with degree of protection IP-23. Grease lubricated ball & roller bearings with grease nipples and relief valves shall be provided for online greasing. Terminal Boxes All terminal boxes shall be totally enclosed having weather protection class of min. IP44 with removable undrilled gasketted MS gland plates of min. 3 mm thickness. Main terminal box shall be suitable for termination of specified numbers of cables / busduct as per data sheets, Adaptor chamber, if required i.e. extension box for termination of power cables / bus duct shall be supplied by the vendor. This extension box shall be independently supported form the ground & connected to the main terminal box of the alternator through thick cloth bellow to prevent eccentric loading. Extension box shall have electroplated copper bus bar of adequate current carrying capacity duly supported by SMC/DMC insulators & have sufficient space to terminate nos. of above mentioned power cables / bus duct. These bus bars inside extension box will be connected to the alternator terminals through suitable copper flexible (in vendors scope). RTD/ BTD Terminals shall be brought out into a separate auxiliary terminal box. Space Heater terminals shall also be brought out into a separate auxiliary terminal box. iv. Two numbers " BSW earth terminals complete with hot dip galvanised hardware consisting of nuts, plain and spring washers for secured vibration proof connection shall be provided on opposite sides of the generator. D.G. set along with all its fittings and accessories etc. shall be painted with epoxy based primer and epoxy based paint of light grey shade 631 of IS-5.

Windings i. Class `H' insulation for Stator, Rotor, Main Generator and Exciter with temperature rise limited to class B insulation shall be provided.

ii. Damper winding shall be provided in the pole to damp the oscillations and ensure satisfactory performance during parallel operation. iii. Windings and particularly overhangs shall be suitably impregnated or treated to prevent absorption of moisture and to withstand acid & alkaline atmosphere (e.g. epoxy gel coat for overhangs). iv. Stator windings shall be star connected (six leads). Star point connections shall be made outside the stator in terminal box. Ends of each phase winding shall be brought out in 2 separate terminal boxes, one for phase and other for neutral connections. v. RTDs shall be provided ( 2 per phase ) for winding temperature monitoring and BTDs (1 per DE and NDE) for bearing temperature monitoring. Temperature monitoring device/ scanner shall also be a part of scope of supply. RTDs shall be of PT 100 type. Manufacturer shall indicate the setting valves for each RTD/BTD for alarm and trip. vi. Anti-condensation space heaters shall be provided to maintain winding temperature 5C above ambient temperature. The heaters shall be suitable for operation on 240V, single phase, 50 Hz, A.C. supply. The space heaters shall be of metal encased and low surface temperature type. Power supply to Space heaters shall be fed by vendor complete with cables & terminations etc. 2.1.4 Diesel Engine (Prime mover) a) Rating & Type i. Type : Heavy duty, four stroke, v construction multi cylinder, totally enclosed, continuous duty, duct fuel injection, turbo charged after cooler type. 1500 rpm Capable of delivering continuously at the generator terminals, net output not less than the specified values at 0.8 P.F. when operating under the site & ambient conditions. 10% overloading capacity for one hour in every 12 hours continuous running. To suit the frequency regulation specified above through full control type Electronic Governor. Battery starting with instant starting after long periods of inactivity.

General Requirements i. All material and design shall be of proven performance and full responsibility of proper material of construction and adequacy of design, performance and safeties and controls shall rest with the vendor. All the materials of construction shall be as per applicable codes & standards etc. Engine shall be of robust construction, suitable for continuous operation. Dynamic Characteristics The Purchaser requires that an analysis be made of engine, coupling(s), and driven unit to ensure that the complete installation starts, operates and stops free from vibration and oscillation in excess of normal industrial standards. The vendor shall provide calculations etc. as evidence that such an analysis is made. Vibration pads in sufficient quantity shall be supplied along with DG sets. iv. v. Cyclic irregularity of the set shall be within Clause 9a of BS649 or equivalent. Flywheels shall be designed and manufactured to meet the cyclic variation levels as per BS649 or equivalent. Design shall incorporate an exhaust gas driven turbo charger with built-in intake silencer. A charging air-cooler suitable for specified cooling water temp. shall be incorporated and supplied. Engine cylinders shall be provided with wear - resistant liners. Necessary flywheel turning devices shall be provided. Engine and generator to be provided with a common base plate and shipped fully assembled. Minimum 4 Nos. lifting lugs shall be provided so that the whole assembly can be lifted without distortion. Complete assembly shall be with electric suspension between DG set and foundation bolts, levelling lines etc. as required. Combination base plates for all auxiliaries with their respective drive motors shall be supplied.

Engine shall be capable of starting and operating for few minutes without supply of raw water for cooling.

c)

Lubricating Oil System i. All lubricating points of the engine shall be connected to pressure oil system and engine driven pump. The system shall be so designed that when the engine starts after prolonged shut- down, lubrication failure does not occur. A lube oil cooler shall be provided. One number A.C. electric motor driven intermittent primer pump with suitable clock timer shall be supplied for automatic operation, to ensure that the diesel engine is kept primed at all times and lubricated for instantaneous starting. Oil drippings from lubricating points shall be connected to the oil pump and recirculated. Full flow strainer shall be provided at oil pump suction. Oil tank shall be fitted with level gauges for visual observation. Lube oil system shall be provided with simplex filters, as engine shall be stopped after every 300 hrs. operation for replacement of lubrication oil and during this period filters can be replaced. These fixtures shall be of paper element type having 99.9% efficiency lube oil cartridge filters. Arrangement shall be made to by pass the lube oil pressure switches and safety at the starting till the pressure is built up. All necessary accessories such as pressure gauges, temperature indicators, pressure relief valves, by pass valves & pressure switches etc. shall be provided.

Cooling System Diesel Engine shall be cooled by pumping a coolant mixture through passages in the engine cylinder block and head(s) by means of an engine driven pump using generator skid mounted radiator and an engine-driven fan to cool the coolant and ventilate the generator room. Vendor shall also quote alternative rates for Heat Exchanger cooled Diesel engine using required auxiliaries and cooling tower. It may be noted that cooling towers along with associated piping and cooling tower pumps shall be procured by vendor separately and shall be available up to the terminal point of the Engine. However, vendor to calculate & furnish requirement of cooling water in Cu.Mtr as well as TR

and required connecting & Header line size. Vendor to supply, necessary rubber bellows, ball valves & necessary pressure & temperature gauges required for supply & return line of the cooling water of each DG set e) Heat Exchanger i. Heat exchanger shall be water-to-water, shell and tube type designed for DG duty supplied by DG supplier along with engine. The DG set supplier shall ensure that the pump with the engine shall be capable of supplying the required water quantity to maintain the required temperature rise. The copper tubes shall not be less than 12mm dia with integral fins. Tubes shall be adequately supported to prevent tube vibration and heat exchanger shall be complete with multiple water heads. The shell shall be standard ERW pipes or rolled from tested quality steel plates. C.I. water heads shall be designed for easy removal to clean tubes and shall be interchangeable. The construction shall conform to the requirements of ASME code for unfired pressure vessels. The Heat Exchanger shall be designed for a maximum working pressure of 7 Kg/Sq.cm and shall be tested with a pressure of 10 Kg/Sq.cm (150 PSIG). Heat exchanger shall be complete with following accessories: f) Fuel Oil System i. The manufacturer shall furnish 2 mm thick mild steel epoxy painted (shade 631 IS:5) day tank of required capacity (990 litre) for individual engine. The day tank shall be suitably located inside the DG room. Piping required to supply HSD up to this individual storage tanks shall be in vendors scope. Vendor to supply one HSD Flow meter (totalising type) along with its by pass facility for each of the storage tank in order to measure quantity of fuel transferred to the respective storage tank. Each storage tank shall be provided with transparent Glass/ PVC fuel level gauge with valve. The fuel system shall be provided with simplex filters, as engine shall be stopped after every 300 hrs. operation for replacement of lubrication oil and during this period filters can be replaced. These fixtures shall be of paper element type having 99.9% efficiency. The fuel oil system shall be equipped with a crankshaft driven fuel oil transfer pump which will draw the fuel oil from the day tank via filters and shall be as per the engine manufacturer design.

Direct injection system shall be designed taking into account the type of fuel used, engine speed etc. so as to achieve safe knock free performance with low emission smoke exhaust. Exhaust system pollution level shall be indicated and has to be got approved by authorities. (Exhaust smoke quality and quantity should be within the norms of central and Local pollution Control Boards). Engine shall be supplied with fuel leakage module to detect the fuel leakage from the engine and transfer it back to day tank for reuse. All interconnected piping from and to the daily service tanks along with associated piping shall be procured by vendor. Separately while the work will be done under the supervision of the vendors engineer. The day tank shall be supplied complete with drain plugs, level indicator, solenoid operated on/off valves, isolating valve, stainless steel float high level switch with indication low fuel oil level switch (flameproof) with alarm and indications on day tank.

Starting System i. ii. Starting of the Diesel Engine shall be done by electric starting system The electric starting system scope shall comprise starter motor, starter 24V batteries (of suitable Ah rating) and battery charger 24 VDC and all the required instruments and accessories. The engine-mounted alternator shall charge the batteries while engine is running and panel mounted battery charger while engine is at stationery. This shall be automatically managed. The battery charger should have float and boost charging facility.

Combustion air system A set of wet-type air filters shall be provided.

Silencers / Exhaust System i. ii. Residential type silencers shall be provided. Silencers shall be suitable for mounting outside the DG room. Necessary lengths of exhaust piping shall be provided as per requirements of operation and as per latest pollution norms. Expansion joints shall also be provided. Necessary Stainless Steel bellows in the exhaust system shall be supplied by the vendor. All the exhaust piping with hot insulation & necessary cladding up to the DG Room along with necessary MS structural supporting system (duly designed) for supporting exhaust piping, paintings with necessary heat resistant aluminium paint along with Aviation Light (LED type Aviation Light) if required and lighting cable with copper conductor, lightning finial, earth strip on structure will be in vendors scope.

Height of exhaust pipe above DG room and insertion losses in noise level of the DG after putting residential silencer shall be as per requirement of Central Pollution Control Board Norms.

Piping All interconnected piping for fuel & cooling water system between diesel engine and various auxiliaries shall be inclusive in Scope of the Package system supplier.

Instrumentation and Controls i. Instrumentation Engine shall be provided with speedometer, lubricating oil pressure gauge, lube oil temperature, jacket water temperature, battery charging, water pressure, fuel pressure for local indication in the panel mounted on the engine itself. ii. Following protective devices shall be provided for the engine protection: a) Over speed (Engine over speed detection shall be by means of digital method employing a tooth magnetic pick up device). Low lubricating oil pressure. Hi temperature of cooling water. Low fuel level Water flow switch Cooling Water Pressure (inlet & outlet)

The above shall stop the engine in case the failure is indicated by alarm is not rectified in time. Visual and audible alarms and associated devices shall be provided for the above conditions and shall be located in instruments panel. Shutdown solenoids and relays shall also be provided to stop the engine in the event of any of these faults. iii. Metering & Protection for Alternator:

a)

Metering: Breaker Panel of individual Alternator will be provided with the following DIGITAL meters in addition to in built meters incorporated in the PLC/ Microprocessor based starting, synchronising & control module. i. ii. iii. iv. v. vi. vii. Voltmeter with in built VSS showing Generator set - 3 phase line to line & line to neutral voltage. Ammeter with in built ASS showing Current (3 phase) Power factor + KW meter Kilowatt hour with sealing arrangement. Frequency Alternator exciter voltage & current Running Hour Meter.

In addition to the meters mentioned above there should be separate voltmeter & frequency meter showing bus voltage & frequency of the bus. b) Protections of Alternator: Following minimum protections shall be provided with both alarm & trip conditions (these are the software based relays provided in PLC/ Microprocessor based control & monitoring system). i. ii. iii. iv. v. vi. In addition to the above protection hardware Reverse Power Relay (RPR) can be provided for each alternator, which will be acting for both Auto & Manual synchronising mode. For both the mode (auto / manual) protection relays in built in the breaker release shall also come in to the picture. c) AMF/Synchronizing and load sharing: - For Future requirement The Auto start/stop, synchronising & load sharing system for paralleling shall be inclusive of all governing, voltage regulation, synchronising, AMF and load sharing control as required for isolated bus paralleling application. D. G. Control Panel (DG CP) The DG control panel including breaker shall be provided to receive 415V, 3 Phase, 4 wire 50 Hz AC power supply from DG set output. Technical features of the breaker panel shall be as per enclosed standard specification. Neutral contactors & Isolators shall be provided for neutral isolation. a) ACBs shall be draw out type, electric operated, motorised, spring charged, with shunt trip coil. Closing and Shunt Trip coil shall be suitable for 24V DC supply. Spring changing motor shall be suitable for 230V AC supply. Anti pumping relay need not be provided if it is an in built feature of the circuit breaker. Temperature rise of horizontal and vertical bus bars over an ambient temperature of 45C shall be 40C. Horizontal main bus bar shall be of Copper material with current density as 1sq.mm = 1A and shall be provided on top only. Busbars and bus links shall be provided with coloured heat shrinkable PVC sleeves and shrouds on joints. Maximum and minimum operating heights of panels shall be 1800 mm and 300 mm from floor level, unless otherwise specified. Minimum 200 mm clear space to be provided in bottom of panels. DG CP shall be designed and constructed for IP-54 degree of protection for enclosure. Panels shall be front operated type, single front and extendible on both sides. Cable entry shall be from bottom. All type of switches, relays, meters, indication etc. shall be mounted on front face of panels. No rear mounting is acceptable. All indicating lights shall be of LED cluster type. Spring charging motor shall be provided with thermal overload relays (BMR). ACBs shall have microprocessor based releases having O/C, S/C, Inst & E/F tripping facility without communication capability.

ON-OFF-TRIP, TCH, Spring change indication shall be provided for all ACBs. Potential free (1NO+1NC) contact (unused) shall be provided (duly wired up to the terminal) for status display in the remote location. Each ACB shall be fitted with a stay-put type Emergency Stop Push button. Drop link type terminals shall be provided for all CTs. All spare contacts of relays, circuit breakers and MCCBs shall be wired to the terminal block for purchasers use. DG panel shall be provided with audio visual alarm for DC supply failure. DG Panel should have terminals for Generator space heater panel, which can be powered up by the Grid power of the PCC. Epoxy powder coated painting (shade 631) procedure shall be adopted for L.V.Switchgear. The painting finish thickness shall not be less than 100 micron. All the panels shall be pre coated with anticorrosive painting before final coat of painting. Adaptor chamber / cable termination box shall be provided for termination of both power & control cables if necessary. Panel shall have one bus duct connection point from each part of the Bus for transporting power supply through O/H Bus duct. Supply, laying, Glanding & Termination of all necessary busduct / power cables / control cables required from DG CP to DG Sets shall be in vendor's scope. Please note that on skid cabling (Supply, Laying & Termination) of the equipments will be in vendors scope. Supply & erection of Necessary switchgears (MCB etc.) for sensing of grid power supply shall also be in vendors scope. Copper Earth Bus of 40x5 mm (minimum) shall be running through out the entire length of the DG CP. All the non-current carrying parts of the switchgears shall be connected to this earth bus. Space Heater with thermostat & cable alley lighting to be provided in each segment. Cooling Fan with suction air filter to be provided for forced ventilation.

Float & Boost Battery Charger The battery charger equipment (transformer - rectifier unit) are to be provided to charge the 12V or 24V battery required for operating diesel engine. a) Construction

The battery charging equipment shall be housed in sheet steel enclosure. Separate unit is provided then it should be free standing floor mounting, totally enclosed dust damp vermin protected suitable for indoor location. b) Operation The battery will normally be in parallel with a constant voltage float (trickle) charger of adequate capacity to meet the continuous loads and to keep battery in fully charged condition under all the conditions of system variations. A boost charger shall be provided for initial charging and recharging the batteries when they are in run down condition. A selector switch for selecting float charge or boost charge shall also be provided on Panel. c) Accessories The following instruments shall be mounted on the charging panel: i. ii. iii. The earth terminals shall be vibration proof and complete with all hardware galvanised or plated and passivated. f) Finish The complete enclosure shall be painted with Epoxy Paint of shade 631 of g) Name Plates The internal & external components of panel shall be provided with rear engraved Perspex, or laminated plastic nameplates with white letters on black background. Lead Acid Storage Batteries The battery cells and the charging equipment shall be separate units. The battery shall be in accordance with IS:1652 specifications for Stationery cells and batteries Lead-acid type (sealed maintenance free). a) Constructions Batteries shall be stationary Lead Acid type. The battery container shall be of hard rubber or polystyrene. The battery shall be sealed & complete with intercell connectors, acid level indicating floats, filter vent plugs, etc. b) Capacity The battery capacity shall be 24V DC, 4x12V, adequate capacity of Ah to suit the required duty. The discharge rate shall take into account maximum load imposed at starting of engine. c) Accessories and Tools for Battery The following accessories and tools are required for battery and shall be supplied by the vendor. i. ii. iii. iv. v. Power & Control Cables All power & controls cables from DG set to various panels & auxiliaries etc. within the battery limits shall be in bidders scope. Cables shall be 1100V grade, XLPE insulated Aluminium/copper conductor (copper up to 6 mm & aluminium above & including 10 mm), PVC extruded inner sheathed, flat/wire armoured (wires up to 10 mm & flats above & including 16 mm) cables conforming to IS1554 alternatively XLPE cables are also acceptable.

2.1.10 Pipe supports / Foundation Bolts Foundation bolts and also necessary vibration dampers for DG set and auxiliaries as required shall be supplied. All pipe supports, hangers, fixtures, fixing bolts; foundation bolts shall also be supplied. Scope shall also include necessary epoxy painted steel structure for various supports / cable. Complete DG set shall be AVM mounted.

NEUTRAL & BODY EARTHING NOT APPLICABLE


Supply & erection of all the necessary Earth Pits required for Neutral point of all the alternators, DG Sets body & Electrical panels (DG CP, Battery Chargers etc.), preparation of Earth Chamber, necessary Earthing strips will be in Vendors scope. Preparation of Earthing Layout (submission of Drawings etc.) and supervision of all Earthing activities at site will be in vendors scope.

TESTING OF DG SETS
a) Vendor shall carryout all the routine tests for engine & alternator, which shall be as per relevant BS/IS & IEC etc. However, following minimum specific tests shall be carried out on the set. i. ii. iii. iv. v. Operation test for given loading performance data. Check the starting and starting time of set, to come on load. Test for automatic voltage regulation. Test for manual rheostat control for initial voltage setting. Tests for specific fuel consumption & specific lube oil consumption at different loads. Operation test to check specified operation including simulation, as required. Testing of governing system. Test the tripping operation of set on over speed and other alarms and trips for abnormal conditions. Testing of Generator Panel with synchronising panel both in Auto & Manual Mode.

Tests at site i. ii. Guarantee tests to prove guaranteed performance of the D.G. set shall also be carried out at site after proper installation. The load test with available load at site will be given for about 8 hours. f) Test Certificate i. The test certificates shall be furnished to the purchaser for prior approval before despatch of any equipment from works and the approval in writing from purchaser shall be essential to effect despatch of the equipment.
