THE MICHAEL McNEILL Visitors to Ellicottville will celebrate the middle of summer in swinging fashion at the Ellicottville Jazz Festival, scheduled for this weekend,
JAZZ DUO August 1-2. The festival will feature performers on the Monroe Street Stage (pictured at right during last year’s festival), as well as street-side
Saturday, August 1st, 5-8pm performances and bands playing inside the local bars and restaurants. The highlight of the event will be The Buffalo Brass (picutred at left), a
THE CAPUTI-STARR DUO standard compliment big band founded in 1985 that has played at the Lewiston Jazz Fest, the Rotary Jazz Fest, and at a number of private venues,
such as the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo. The Buffalo Brass will take the Monroe Street Stage on Sunday from 1:30-4pm, and in the case
of rain, they will perform at Holiday Valley Resort. The lineup for the local restaurants and nightclubs also appears to be impressive. (For a
complete lineup, see schedule page A-2.) Another highlight of the weekend include The Clarke-Felski Jazz Quartet (pictured center) at Madigan’s
on Saturday from 5-8pm. The band is described as having “a deliciously dynamic platter of mainstream jazz that is a welcome feast for the ears of
