Completed task
We have
been busy with many building projects all going on at the same time. We are celebrating the completion of the building in the pictures that will house visiting teams of workers for many years to come. It is about 1900 sq. ft, has two dorm rooms, one for males and one for females, with their own bathrooms. The kitchen is inside and dining area are outside as you can see. The exterior walls are adobe, compressed earth block nished with a cement, stuccolike material. The color is mixed with the nish so painting is not required. The interior walls are masonry, nished with cement and painted. The interior oor is also concrete, colored with pigment and waxed to create a useful, economical nish. The construction of the building was completed using mostly Honduran labor which helps many families. The work also allows us to get involved with the workers and share our love for Christ. We built at a very low cost of $26 per sq ft. because we used the local labor, visitors and full-time missionary young men. We are so grateful for those who provided for this project.

The power of prayer

Well, I am happy to announce that God has answered the prayers that many of you have prayed for my back. Praise be to God for His healing power! My back is in alignment again and I am feeling good. The nerve that was so aggravated still needs some healing and I have lost lots of strength but that will come back with exercise. Thank you for praying. We sure appreciate you. God Bless.--

Learning a new trade

Construction in Honduras is mostly concrete and block, so drywall is a new concept to the contractors here. Learning something new is a great adventure for anyone. This is Marvin and he has worked with us for many years as a masonry contractor. You might remember him from other articles we have written. Drywall, or sheetrock as some call it, is a building material that is becoming more popular in Honduras. It is so common in the United States that no one thinks twice about using it. Since it is new here the contractors need to learn more about it. I had the opportunity to teach Marvin this trade. Now dont you think for a minute that I am a drywall nisher. I know just the basics and what is supposed to be done. I could see in the work that Marvin does with cement that he would have the knack for nishing drywall. I put the tools in his hands and taught him what little that I knew about the trade, and he took to it like a duck takes to water. Now after a week and a half of trial and error he is doing well. In fact, Im sure Marvin will be bidding on our next drywall project. It has always been my desire to teach the local people as much as possible so they can use these skills to become better providers for their families. This is one example of sharing what we have with them to better their lives. I am so thankful that God prepared me to do just that; to share what others have shared with me in the past by teaching me.

Prayers & Praise

Pray for our granddaughters health Praise that Mikes back is better. We thank all that prayed for him. Pray for the country of Honduras and the elections in November. Praise that some of the construction projects are completing and that the School project is beginning. Pray for the truck that we are waiting to purchase. It could be coming real soon. Pray to remove a virus that is causing children in our area to be sick.
