THANK YOU

for coming out today to share in our communitys Out of the Darkness Walk. Although we may have come together today as strangers, we find we are connected with a common thread or bond. Our lives have been touched by suicide. Most of us have lost people we loved. Our walk today symbolizes the journey weve been traveling and the one ahead of us. Our journey is one of living, grieving, healing, and reaching out to others to give and get support and comfort. We are not alone. The death or loss of the body of a person we loved is not the loss of that special person or soul. They can and do live on in our hearts, in our memories, in our thoughts and in our actions. We honor their life every day through living our own. We are left with a difficult taskliving without people we love living with such a terrible event one that we would never imagine or ask for. So we ask for and look for the tools and skills needed to get through this tragedy, through this journey we ask for them for ourselves and for our companions on this walk. We are not alone - we are on this journey together, marked by our Walk on Sunday October 27, 2013

RESPONSIVE READING : WE REMEMBER THEM

At the rising of the sun and at its going down, We remember them. At the blowing of the wind and in the chill of winter, We remember them. At the opening of the buds and in the rebirth of spring, We remember them. At the shining of the sun and in the warmth of summer, We remember them. At the rustling of the leaves and in the beauty of autumn, We remember them. At the beginning of the year and at its end, We remember them. As long as we live, they too will live: For they are now a part of us, As we remember them. When we are weary and in need of strength, We remember them. When we are lost and sick at heart, We remember them. When we have joy we crave to share, We remember them. When we have decisions that are difficult to make, We remember them. When we have achievements that are based on theirs, We remember them. When we fulfill their dreams, and our own, We remember them. As long as we live, they too will live: For they are now a part of us, As we remember them.
