86-79 final for Gilas Pilipinas outcasts South Korea

Gilass castro scored on two straight layups to give the Philippines a 40-39 lead, before converting on another impossible drive at the 7:35 mark to give Gilas a three-point lead., while Pingris then added a tip-in, followed by a Castros fastbreak and triple to bring the horde of Filipinos into a shakeup. While in the remaining 2 minutes mark in the third, it was Alapag who scored and added a triple on the next play to give the Philippines a 63-53 lead, but Kim Mingoo took it right back with his own transfer from below. The see-saw battle between the two fierce rivals, was again disturbed when, with the seconds dwindling down, Pingris stole the ball, which led to a De Ocampo triple for an 81-77 back to hometown lead again. But then Koreas desire to lead was still alive in the game as Yang Donggeun scored on two free throws, having it a see-saw battle between, but Alapag did not allowed to as he then sank a coldblooded three with 50 dying seconds to put up an 84-79 lead for the Philippines for the triumph. We all have stories as an individual but now is the chance for us to write our own story, the Gilas story. This team just showed it, with the effort, their toughness and togetherness, Gilas mentor Chot Reyes said as he was eased of the fact that he never be uncertained in accepting the job as Gilass. de Ocampo,on the other hand could not hold his tears,as he brought the teams sacrifices including being away from loved ones just to help the Philippines accomplish its goal of reserving a participation to the world championship after 30 years.

Up by only two with 1:14 left, Jimmy Alapag created separation for Gilas with a booming triple, 84-79, followed by Marc Pingris' contribution to ice the match.
