Answering The Call

The Ministry update of josh and angela bryant,
missionaries to Uganda August 2009

are you IN or Out?

During a service back in Ohio recently, I shared a passage that had been on my heart from Matthew 14:26-33. Jesus commanded the disciples
to “come” out onto the water to meet Him. In reading this, I find it fascinating that Jesus never called out specifically to Peter. While there
were 11 other disciples and possibly many others aboard the ship that night, Peter was the only one who was obedient and faithful enough to
get out and go to Him. Everyone on the boat heard Him call, yet only one person, Peter, was willing to answer Jesus and go to Him.
Our family isn’t the only one being called to the foreign mission field. We’re not even the only ones being called to Uganda. God is still calling ALL
of His children to share the Gospel. What are you doing missionally to spread His message to the world, locally and internationally? Are you
stepping out by faith and being obedient to Christ’s command, or are you just sitting in the boat letting someone else do the work? Just like Peter,
we have our times where it’s hard to keep our eyes on Christ when storm after storm comes against us. But we know that He is faithful to
keep us in His loving arms.
Have the confidence and faith to know that whatever He is calling you to do, He will also equip you to do. If we can help in any way or pray
for you in a calling you may be sensing, give us a call or e-mail us. We would love to be an encouragement and a support to you!

Ministry update
Spring was a busy time for us, as our schedule had
us in northern and southern Ohio, Kentucky, AND
Indiana. We are still aiming to be in the field by the end
of the year but we need your help if we are going to
reach that goal. We ask you to pray for us that we can
be at least 50% funded by September and to be praying
as to how God might lead you to help. If you would
like to be a part of the work God is already doing in
Uganda, please pray about being one of the partners
listed below.
To be 50% funded, we need:
• 2 Partners @ $500/month
• 10 Partners @ $100/month Above: Josh sharing Above: Angela and the boys at our
• 20 Partners @ $50/month during chapel at table at First FWB of Tampa.
• 40 Partners @ $25/month Kentucky Mountain
Bible College.
If you have questions about how to set up monthly
payment plans or EFT payments, please call us. Left: Josh speaking to the youth at
Heritage FWB in Columbus.

How can we help you?

You do so much to support and partner with us, but we want to be a help to you as well. If there is a calling you feel God has placed
upon your heart, let us know so that we can be praying specifically for you. If there is any questions we can answer, please ask. We are
not here just to raise financial support to go to Uganda. We are here to spread the Gospel to the lost here in our own country as well
as encourage our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.

Uganda: Real People. Real lives being changed

In each issue, we want to feature a person or an event from Uganda. We hope that this will be a blessing and will give you an idea of the spiritual and physical
needs in the small African country. This issue, we are featuring Emmy Mugisha, a pastor in Kampala with Africa Gospel Church. We met through an email
he sent, letting us know that he and his family were praying for us and our ministry. We asked Pastor Emmy to tell us his story about how the ministries of
WGM have impacted his life. Here is an excerpt from that e-mail.
I grew up in a family that insisted that we attend church every Sunday. When I left for board-
ing school, my father gave me a Bible to take with me. He said that I should read the Bible but
did not explain how, when, or why I should read it. Since I did not consider it important, it
was the first book I lost and it did not bother me. In April 1998, through a friend of mine,
WGM missionary Marjorie Campbell, who was my neighbor, I accepted Christ as my
personal Saviour. Today I lead youth and adult Bible studies, teach Sunday School and VBS,
and preach in the worship services. I also travel to different parts of the country to train youth
leaders as some places do not have facilities that are nice as those in Kampala. I have always
had a call to pastor and work with the youth and I thank God for opening doors for me to do
this work. My heart’s desire is to be involved in teaching and preaching true Biblical concepts,
not only in a local church but also to assist in training pastors for Africa Gospel Church. I
yearn to see God’s people growing in faith, not perishing because they have not been taught
the truth of the word of God. Praise the Lord that today I am involved in training Africa Pastor Emmy Mugisha and his family.
Gospel Church pastors and youth pastors.
Pray that many will be trained to stand strong in the future of the church in Uganda. Youth ministry with Africa Gospel Church is very
new and we have many challenges as we develop our foundation. Pray that we get the funds we need to carry on our ministry. Pray, too,
that we become relevant as we train the youth pastors.

Bryant family update

There have been so many changes for our family since our winter newsletter. For those that don’t
already know, we are bringing another missionary along with us to Uganda. Yes, we are expecting
our third child in late July/early August! We found out just after the printing of our first newsletter!
We also know that this will be boy #3 – Peter. Zach celebrated his 3rd birthday in February and
Sam finished preschool in May.
As mentioned in our ministry update, we relocated to Florida in June. No, it’s not be-
cause of the weather, either! The Lord opened up an opportunity for us that involved
moving into missionary housing in St. Petersburg with D&D Missionary Homes. It’s such an
answered prayer, for our family and for our ministry. From the moment we got here, we have felt
such a sense of peace about this and have seen God’s hand throughout all of this. Although it
was hard saying goodbye to our families and to our church family at Canaan Land, we are looking
forward to developing new relationships here in the sunshine state! To God be the glory!

Praises & Prayer Requests

We want to again thank all of our new prayer and financial partners, that have joined us in our journey to Uganda. We’re so thankful, too, for
the churches that have opened their doors to us over the last few months. There have also been people that God has placed in our paths
throughout our homeland ministry assignment. We have seen so many great examples of faith with some of our partners! A special thanks to
Williams Road, New Hope, Harrison FWB, and Albany Christian Churches as well as our home church of Canaan Land for becoming
our first church partners!. May God continue to richly bless you all. We’re so thankful for all of you who have become our partners.
If there is anything we can do for you, please let us know.

Please keep us in your prayers as we prepare for the arrival of baby Peter. Also, please lift Angela up in your prayers, as she is
on modified bed rest until he arrives. Also pray for Josh’s work to pick up, especially while Angela is off work and on materni-
ty leave. It is still our prayer that we will be fully funded by the end of the year, but more importantly that we will continue to
encourage others to become more missions-minded.
