Check the pump tubing Plasma gas tubing Auxiliary gas tubing Transfer tube
Torch tubing and connections 1. Plasma gas tubing (EzyFit connections on Varian 700-ES series instruments) 2. Auxiliary gas tubing (EzyFit connections on Varian 700-ES series instruments) 3. Transfer tube (Varian 700-ES series instruments)/Sample inlet tubing (Vista-PRO instruments)
Cut a piece of silicone rubber tubing (0.187 in ID x 0.06 in wall (4.75 mm ID x 1.52 mm wall)) long enough to fit between the torch and the plasma gas outlet in the torch compartment wall. Using the EzyFit connectors, connect one end to the plasma gas inlet of the torch. The other end will be connected to the plasma gas outlet in the torch compartment wall while installing the torch.

Vista-PRO
Cut a piece of Nalgene tubing (1/4 in ID x 1/16 in wall (6.35 mm ID x 1.59 mm wall)) long enough to fit between the torch inlet tube and the top of the spraychamber. Fit one end of the tubing over the sample inlet of the torch. The other end of the tubing fits over the top of the spraychamber. Note Ensure that the tubing is neither too long nor too short as an incorrect length may place pressure on the torch, interfering with its alignment. Never use the same tubing for organic and aqueous samples. Solvent flexible Nalgene (PVC) tubing is available for organic solvents. Tip Check that all tubing connections from the torch assembly to the sample compartment wall are correctly sealed. Any air leaks in the argon gas lines may prevent plasma ignition or may produce imprecise analytical results. Also, check for kinks in the gas tubes. If you are following the installation procedure you should now install the pump tubing. Lost your way through the installation procedure? Return to the Installation home page.
