Todays CAD technology can provide an engineer or designer the necessary help in the following ways.
1. 2. 3. 4.
5.
CAD is faster & more accurate than conventional methods. Various construction facilities available in CAD model & drafting are easy to develop. Possible to manipulate various dimensions, attributes & other drawing elements. Not necessary to repeat design or drawing of any component. Could be copied digitally within seconds, including geometry manipulations Accurately calculate various geometric properties of parts. Such as area, mass, volume, interpolations, extrapolations etc.
8. 9.
Modifications & optimizations are easier and would improve the way designers work. Part Libraries, using standard components which are ready & available to the industry. Improving development time consumed. Large numbers of component can be assembled and tested for functionality. 3D visualization capabilities, giving different orientations of the parts/product. Further, eliminating the need of making the real models of products for realization & explaining the concepts to the team.
Not only this, several designers can work simultaneously on the same product and can gradually build the product in a modular fashion. Which provides the answer to the need of todays industry needs.
