NLD Members Arrested Around Burma and Verdict of Daw Aung San
Suu Kyi Trial Further Postponed

The trial of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi has been postponed further until 11th August, after the judge
has declared that there is a legal problem related to the case. The real cause of the postponement
remains unclear. According to some sources inside the country, the verdict was ready to be
issued today, but the delay order came from Naypyidaw in the last minute before the court
section.

Despite the extension of the trial, authorities have detained 26 NLD members across the country
especially from Rangoon, Magwe and Mandalay divisions.

In Mandalay, the whole street where Mandalay Division Office of NLD was blocked with barbed
wire in the morning and the blocks were moved at 1:00 p.m. today. This follows actions
yesterday of NLD members from Mandalay who went to the top of the Mount of Mandalay to
pray for release of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi.

U Myint Soe, the secretary of the National League for Democracy (Liberated Area) said, “The
whole world has called for the release of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and all political prisoners and
everyone is closely watching the situation now. Arresting more NLD members will worsen the
situation and people will express their will in one way or another. It is just a matter of time."
