2. Define globalisation Globalization is the process where the world becoming increasingly in economics, social and cultural activity across the national borders. Describe the Dawn Raid Operation in 1981 and explain its importance to our country. Dawn Raid Operation 1981 is an operation to take over the Guthrie share which at that time is held by the Britain. The operation was done secretly, if not the share of Guthrie will arise higher and the management will respond to thwart the ambush. In Malaysia, Khalid Ibrahim is given a task to handle purchasing of shares in which Bank Simpanan, Genting and Kuwait Investment will accept the deal from Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) because all of these three are considered close to PNB. Dato Ismail Ali went to Singapore on that day to meet the chairman of OCBC, the largest bank in Singapore. The plan was to convince the OCBC to accept the tender to buy Guthries share. In London, Rowe, Pitman and Rothschilds are waiting the green light from Malaysia to buy those Guthries shares from British investors. While Ismail and the chairman of OCBC, Tan Chin Tuan discussing about the buying of Guthries share and the discussion ends with bad news. OCBC refused to accept the PNBs offer. At the moment, Khalid succeeded to get shares from Kuwait, Bank Simpanan and Genting. They have no other option otherwise to continue the ambush. In London, once they receive the green light from Malaysia, both of Frim which hired by the PNB starts the process of purchasing as fast as possible. Rothschilds success to get 11% share of Guthrie while Rowe and Pitman success to get 5% from British. Without OCBC, in 4 hours, PNB succeed to get 8 million shares or 50.41% of overall company.
