This past weekend, I realized that when I thanked Anne Rogers for all the years she worked with Meals & More, I failed to also acknowledge her daughter Terri who has been there at her side from the beginning. And there are others too, too many to mention here, who have also been founding members of that ministry or who have given many years of service to it. So again to all of them, we give thanks & recognize the good you have done. This Stephens Meals & More Ministry has continued to run smoothly under the direction of Deacon Pete and the faithful volunteers who keep showing up week after week. If you would like to lend a hand, even if only on occasion, to this generous group of people, please let Deacon Pete know. Im sure hell always be on the watch for people who can cook or help in other ways too, like baking desserts. This Wednesday the priests of the Diocese will be gathering for a Presbyteral Convocation or coming together for prayer & discussion. The topic of the guest speaker will be Intercultural Competence for Todays Priest is Way Beyond Being Multicultural. Ya, I dont know what means either, but I hope Ill find out! Please pray for us. Each time a member of the clergy is brought into the spotlight as was the case last week, the whole fraternity of priests suffers. We too are faced with questions, doubts, confusion, frustration and the sad reality of sin which discriminates against no one. So our first duty under such circumstances is to pray, first for ourselves & then for all Gods people. We pray for understanding, endurance, forgiveness, resolve, and an even greater commitment to the way of Christ and service to his Church. Please pray with us and for us that God may dispel the darkness and bring us into the light. I am enjoying the beautiful weather weve been having this month. But we all know that it wont last, so savor it while you can.

This is a great way some together as Christian men who are called by God to be the spiritual leaders in our homes. We use the A.C.T.S. method of prayer, A=Adoration C=Contrition T=Thanksgiving and S=Supplication. You can come to just try it out and you don't even have to pray vocally. That's right, you can just sit there in silence and add your prayers to those who do feel called to speak or to sing. It is wonderful. Please join us. Priesthood Sunday Catholics across the country will be celebrating Priesthood Sunday on October 27, 2013. It is a day set aside to celebrate the importance of the gift of priesthood in the life of the Church. It is a time for us to reflect on the ministry that our priests share with us when we gather at the Table of the Lord when we call in our times of need. Consider sharing a personal note or card of thanks. Together we pray that many of our young people will be inspired by the ministry and witness of our priests. May their hearts be open to hearing and responding to Gods call in their lives. More information on priesthood can be found at clevelandcatholicpriesthood.com. Red Cross Blood Drive: On Monday Nov.11, we will be hosting another blood drive in Hackman Hall from 1:00 to 7:00 PM. This is a wonderful way to thank God for your good health, by passing on this much needed gift to others.

World Mission Sunday Today is World Mission Sunday! We are called to this Eucharistic Celebration and invited to do good on earth, to be missionary by putting our faith into action in support of the work of missionaries like Sister Clara who rescues girls from human trafficking in India, giving them a loving home. Your prayers and generous gifts to the Society for the Propagation of the Faith on World Mission Sunday support the tireless work of so many priests, religious and lay leaders around the world as they offer practical, emotional and spiritual care to communities, children and families in desperate need, bringing the light of Christ to the darkest of circumstances. Democracy operates on the principle that all power comes from the people. In the Church, however, all power comes from Christ. Christ himself is the one who acts in the Church when ordained ministers, by Gods grace, do or give something that they could not do or give by themselves such as administering the sacraments. Christ entrusted the entire faith to a group of twelve apostles, who successors govern the Church with the Pope presiding as the successor to St. Peter.
