The new settlers were so focused into finding gold that most mean were desperate to find food once it was too late. )n desperation they raided the )ndians and that caused the tension between them and the settlers. *roblems grew worst when Lord de la war arri"ed and used irish tactics to raid the )ndians and caused a war called the +first #nglo *owhatan war,. The indian once again tries to get rid of the new settlers in the +second anglo powhatan war, but they failed to do so. The peace treaty of -./. called for the Virginia society and the )ndians to coe'ist but that only banished the Chesapeake )ndians from their lands and separate the )ndians from the while areas. !hat sa"ed &amestown from all of these problems was the perfected methods to grow tobacco from john rolfe. The tobacco rush swept o"er &amestown and soon e"eryone tries to plant the weed in streets and gra"es. Colonist who once hungered for food now is seeking land in order to grow tobacco. Though when planted greedily, it ruins the soil. #s time grew, 0ing james distrusted Virginia, he hated tobacco and he put Virginia directly under his control.
