TO OUR COMMUNITY. . .
THE WORSHIP OF GOD I mentioned some of my heroes the other day in this column
July 26, 2009 and since then, I have discovered that I am surrounded by
heroes. Sometimes we fail to notice those who quietly and
faithfully minister. There are many of these heroes in our
church and community. I would like to mention one to you
WELCOME AND GREETING today. He is a hero that would never mention this and I am
willing to accept that he is going to “chew” me out when he
“Revive Us Again” Hymn # 469 reads this. Bill Crawford who served as an active deacon in
this church for many years, has also ministered to this
CALL TO WORSHIP Responsive Reading congregation for the past 53 years by faithfully keeping the
church’s Sunday School records every Sunday. Even more
“God of Grace and God of Glory” Hymn # 395 impressive than the length of time that Bill has kept the
records is that in the length of time I have been here, he has
MORNING PRAYER never one time complained, grumbled, or griped to me
about keeping the records or anything else. Remember, if
“Be Strong in the Lord” Hymn # 476 you gripe about what you are doing, it can’t be a ministry.
Galatians 6:9-10 reads, 9Let us not become weary in doing good, for
CHILDREN’S FEATURE Tracy Sexton at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people,
PRAYER TIME especially to those who belong to the family of believers. Thank you
Feel free to pray at the altar or your seat. Bill for not growing weary of doing good, and for ministering
to this congregation and others. Bill is just one example of
“Speak, O Lord” someone who lives this scripture. If you know someone who
faithfully lives out scripture, let them know that you have
SERMON John Wheatley noticed and appreciate them, and let me know. I don’t know
about you, but I like for my list of heroes to be as long as
Decision of Commitment “The Summons” possible. Praying for you, John
God Loves Us
(At this time, you are invited to pray, speak with a pastor, make spiritual John 3:16 - For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,
commitments, or indicate your desire to become a member of this
fellowship.)
that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
