Institute of Physics The IOP's Top 40 Work Placements Scheme offers penultimate year undergraduate physics students bursaries of 2,000 to carry out eight-week summer placements in a company of their choice Students receive first-hand experience of working for an organisation committed to physicists and physics. In return, employers gain a fresh perspective and new ideas from their work placement students. The 2013 scheme is now open to applications. The selection process will take approximately three weeks, successful and unsuccessful applicants will hear shortly after this time. They would be delighted to have physics undergraduates apply -- placements are more likely to be specific to the software development business than academic research related to physics Interviewing takes place in November and December. If they fill the vacancies, they will close for applications at the end of the year -- and almost certainly, before February IBM pays undergraduates for these placements and provides accommodation. DSTL Summer vacation placements are available to students looking for an 8-12 week job. The placements provide an opportunity to gain some relevant work experience while earning money. Placements are available at all sites in Wiltshire, Hampshire and Kent.
