Dalmatia is one of the oldest and most picturesque regions in all of Europe, which extends along the richly indented shoreline of the Adriatic Sea for almost 400 kilometres, and is divided into the Zadar, ibenik, Split and Dubrovnik regions. On one side it is bordered by protected landscapes of the Velebit massif (the highest mountain in Croatia), and the Dinaride Mountains with their clear waters, waterfalls and lakes, and on the other by the glorious sunny shores and clean waters of the Adriatic strewn across which are literally a thousand islands, isles, rocks and reefs. Although 17 centuries of undisturbed life within the walls has resulted in many primal works such as the Emperors mausoleum which was later incorporated into the cathedral of Sv. Duje (St. Duje), Diocletians palace is today the true symbol of Split. If you go a little further on, you will discover one more jewel on the UNESCO cultural heritage list: the town of Trogir often called the town of museums. There are also the islands of the Split archipelago here: the island of Bra with its beautiful white stone and tradition of sculpture workshops, as well as sunny Hvar with the largest square on both sides of the Adriatic and the first communal theatre in Europe that was built in 1612.

The Dubrovnik region is located in the extreme south of Croatia. Its magical towns are scattered on the mainland and islands with numerous stone-built summer villas and mansions that were for centuries being created owing to highly developed and rich trading links of the famous Republic of Ragusa, or rather Dubrovnik.

Today, the region is unquestionably one of the top tourist destinations in this part of the world. Once a part of the Republic of Dubrovnik, there is also the nearby Peljeac peninsula with the 5.5 km long walls of the town of Ston. Growing up on the remains of a Greek colony, the island of Korula with streets that have a fish bone pattern is a true urban gem, whilst in the furthest south, there is the island of Mljet with a Benedictine monastery built on an island in the middle of the great lake. Bound on one side by hills and craggy peaks and on the other by an azure sea and rich winegrowing islands, the Dubrovnik region is truly special and different from all others. With every step you take here, you can inhale the exoticism of the southern Mediterranean and learn the art of the good life.
