Kaolin or china clay is a naturally occurring, hydrated aluminium silicate mineral formed by the hydrothermal degradation of granite. Benefits in coatings include effective TiO2 spacing, good opacity and matting efficiency in high PVC coatings, favourable rheology and thixotropic effects, improved sandability and enamel holdout properties.
