Brief Summary of Furmanites Hot Tap and Line Stop Service History and Capabilities Through our IPSCO line, hot taps and line stops have been performed in the field since the mid 1950s; IPSCO is regarded as the first known company in the world that provided field service Hot Taps and Line Stops. IPSCO stood for International Piping Services Company and is a brand that is owned by Furmanite; today we are still the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) of the IPSCO/Furmanite brand of Hot Tap and Line Stop Equipment and remain one of only two companies in the United States that both provides field service and manufactures the fittings and equipment. We currently operate two manufacturing facilities for HT/LS equipment and fittings; one is located in Houston, Texas (USA), the other is located in Scunthorpe, UK. The OEM equipment that is designed and manufactured by Furmanite is used in our own field operations and is also sold to HT/LS companies and client owning companies around the world. All design and engineering is performed by Furmanite through our in-house engineering group and also oversees our bolt-on and weld-on OEM Fittings.

Furmanites Hot Tapping service capabilities include: Sizes: Pressures: to 72 Up to 2800 PSI

Temperatures: Up to approximately 750oF Furmanites Line Stopping service capabilities include: Sizes: Pressures: to 84 Fully-rated equipment up to 1480 PSI

Temperatures: Up to approximately 750oF Pivoting Heads: 3 to 48 for High Pressures Folding Heads: 12 to 84 for Low/Medium Pressures Included in Line Stop Services are two proprietary designs for Sure Stop and HTP (High Temperature and Pressure Stops; highlights are below: Sure Stop Positive Seal Line Stop for 2 to 42; pressures up to 1000 PSI: Sure Stop Line Stops are unique in that they remove an entire section of the pipe and the expanding head seals above and below the perimeter of the pipe so that a 100% seal can be achieved on pipes that are out of round or have large amounts of internal scale or build up where a traditional pivoting or folding head line stop may not be acceptable.

HTP High Temperature and Pressure Line Stop from 3 to 14; pressures up to 1000 PSI; temperatures to approximately 750oF Like the Sure Stop, the HTP also removes and entire section of the pipe but utilizes a metal to metal seal that enables the application in extreme temperatures. Recently during a competitive bid process, Furmanites design for a new HTP was chosen by a client in Canada and we have begun manufacture of a new system that will increase current capabilities to 18 and 950oF. The metal sealing elements employ a lip-seal for back-up system for built-in safety; Furmanite has never had a HTP fail in the field.

Furmanites Line Stop fittings are engineered and manufactured with a closure-system completion plug. In addition we have engineering designs and manufacturing capabilities for scarfed nipple outlet completion plugs and flow-through completion plugs.
