Technical Information Sheet PP10-2RJ PLUG IN POWER SURGE FILTERS with NETWORK PROTECTION

Status Display
Two LED indicators are fitted on the side of the unit. The red LED indicates that power is present. The green LED indicates that the unit is operating normally and that the main metal oxide varistors are intact and operational. A fault condition is indicated with the green LED extinguished and the red LED on. The unit should be returned for repair. Note that even with the green LED extinguished the unit will still provide protection with the filter and load side MOVs. Note: If the supply cord of this equipment is damaged, the equipment must be returned to the supplier for repair.

Product Description
Novaris PP10-2RJ plug-in surge filters provide complete protection against surges caused by lightning and other transient events for computers and other equipment that uses both mains power and a network connection.

Easy Installation
The unit is simply plugged into a power outlet. Equipment can then be plugged into the two protected power outlets on the front of the unit. The unit has two RJ45 sockets (standard network cable connections) located at the back of the unit. The network cable is plugged into either of the two sockets. Another network cable is then run from the other socket to the computer (or other network equipment).

Surge Protection
Multistage transient protection is utilised in every power surge filter. Metal oxide varistors, as the first stage, absorb the majority of the energy. These components are continuously monitored for integrity. The first stage is followed by a low pass LC filter that further attenuates the let through voltage. The filter also attenuates low-level noise and harmonics. The filter is rated at 10 amps (2400W). Do not exceed this rating. The third stage consists of metal oxide varistors. These provide a final clamping circuit and protect against impulses generated by connected loads. Network protection is provided by a circuit integrating low-capacitance and transient-clamping diodes. This circuit provides effective protection without hampering network performance. The circuit is referenced to the mains earth to give a common earth point. This prevents potentially damaging potential differences between power lines and network lines.
