CODE OF CONDUCT
The Code of Conduct for VEWSA is based on the National Code of Conduct used by some Australian Sports Groups. The participants of any sporting competition arranged by VEWSA including the players, coaches, carers, family members, friends and members and spectators should: Discourage any instances of unsportsmanlike behaviour, foul play or acts of violence and verbal abuse, both on and off the field Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every person, regardless of their age, gender, disability, cultural background, religion and sexual orientation.

FOR THE PLAYERS


The sporting and governing rules of VEWSA provide some guidelines for player behaviour, however a number of points may be added, in addition to those already stated in VEWSA rules. Respect all good play, whether from your team or the opposition. Respect the umpires decisions Honour both the spirit and letter of the Playing Rules of VEWSA. Never engage in disrespectful conduct of any sort, including profanity, obscene gestures, offensive remarks, taunting or any other actions that are demeaning to other players, officials or supporters. Care and respect for the facilities and equipment used during VEWSA competitions.

FOR COACHES
Actively discourage foul play, and/unsportsmanlike behaviour by players. Show concern and caution to all sick and injured players. Always consider the health, safety and welfare of players. Maintain a thorough knowledge of the rules and regulations of VEWSA. Conduct yourself at all times in a manner that shows leadership and respect for VEWSA and all involved in VEWSA.

FOR REFEREES, ASSISTANT REFEREES & OFFICIALS


Be impartial, consistent, objective and courteous. Place the safety of players above all else. Be aware of the physical and basic medical aspects of people with a disability. Accept responsibility for all actions taken. Avoid any form of verbal contact with coaches, team officials, parents and spectators during play. Avoid any situation which may lead to a conflict of interest. Condemn all and every instance of unsportsmanlike, foul and unfair play. Set a good example by way you dress, speak and act towards players, coaches, officials and spectators.

FOR FAMILY, CARERS, FRIENDS and MEMBERS OF VEWSA


Condemn all violent or illegal acts, whether they are players, coaches, officials or spectators. Respect the umpires decision. Do not complain or argue about calls/decisions during or after a game. Never conduct unsportsmanlike behaviour, including abusive language, harassment or aggressive behaviour. Participate in positive cheering that encourages the team you are supporting. Do not participate in any cheering that taunts, humiliates or intimidates opponents, their supporters or officials. If necessary, at all times follow the directions of the VEWSA organisers. Do not enter the playing field under any circumstances, unless directed to do so for safety reasons. Do not consume alcohol in the playing arena/gymnasium. Do not enter the playing area if you are intoxicated or under the influence of or in the possession of illegal substances.

PENALTIES FOR CODE OF CONDUCT BREACHES FOR PLAYERS, FAMILY, CARERS, FRIENDS, MEMBERS and SPECTATORS
1.1 1.2 1.3 1.4 A player, carer, family member, friend, or VEWSA member who has contravened the Code of Conduct will be dealt with within the VEWSA Incorporated Constitution. If there is a game in play they are not involved in, he/she may be given an official warning by the referee or a Committee Member. If there is a second offence, the Player will be asked to explain his/her actions to the Committee. If the Code of Conduct is breached by an official, Coach, Team Manager/ or appropriate person, they will be advised of the breach and receive an official warning. If there is a second offence, he/she will be asked to leave the playing area, if the breach occurred during a match. If there is a third offence, that person will be banned from the playing arena for the rest of the tournament. If it is a serious offence, such as, acts of violence, he/she will be asked not to attend future VEWSA competitions or events.
