Last Forest Enterprises promotes agro-ecological products and indigenous crafts. It primarily aims to bring value added produce from small farmers and harvesters into the market. It is based in the Nilgiris but aims to provide a platform for many groups from around the country to be able to access the market. It aims to spread the message of: small indigenous farmers and gatherers value added organic produce biodiversity & food security indigenous knowledge, traditions & crafts sustainable harvesting & farming methods local employments & markets fair trade principles

OUR HONEY PRODUCTS:

The honey is collected from the single large combs of the Giant Rock Bees, Apis dorsata, which nests on high cliffs and tall tropical trees in the Nilgiris, where these communities people have dwelt in forest areas since ancient times Sweet Honey: This sweet multi-floral honey is medicinal and good for cold, cough, congestion and building immunity.

Bitter Honey: It gets its taste primarily from the nectar of forest flowers like the wild Jamun. Bitter honey is significantly higher vitaminB2, which is useful for metabolism and eye &skin care.

Spiced honey: Pure oleoresin is added to fortify the qualities of honey Ginger Honey- Helps to rejuvenate the body Pepper Honey- Helps fight common cold and sore throat Saffron Honey- Helps build immunity

BEES WAX PRODUCTS:

Beeswax is a valuable by-product of honey harvesting. The wax is processed under conditions not to lose oil or other properties. It is not bleached, and no chemicals are being used during the process.

SOAP:

The Kuruma communities in the Nilgiris are well known for their traditional knowledge and daring honey hunting skills. Art is one form of expression nurtured by a handful of painters from the community who like to call themselves ajile bottu meaning the tattoo worn on the forehead by the community women. Their paintings are an expression which brings to us their normal day to day activities ranging from their skillful honey hunting rituals to their marriages, festivals, millet cultivation, firewood collection, etc..
