The design, implementation and evaluation of several individual and group projects that integrate the fundamental electrical and electronic knowledge and skills learned this semester. Appropriate problem solving, communication and time management skills are emphasized. 50 3

Course Outcomes
Successful completion of this course will enable the student to: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. Identify and practice safe procedures within an engineering environment including WHMIS, lab safety, and shop safety. Work effectively as a member of a diverse technical team. Orally discuss, defend and present engineering activities and decisions. Create written documentation that accurately presents specified aspects of a project. Critically review project activities and results to identify improvement opportunities for future project work. Design, prototype and fabricate electrical, electronic, and software components given specific project requirements.

Unit Outcomes

Project 1: A Project That Emphasizes Electrical Principles In The Realization Of a Multimeter That Includes A Dual Range Voltmeter, A Dual Range Ammeter, And An Ohmmeter 2.1 Design electrical circuits to perform specific tasks, given selected components and parameters. 2.2 2.3 2.4 2.5 2.6 2.7 2.8 2.9 Draw electrical circuit schematics using schematic capture and simulation software. Evaluation
The minimum passing grade for this course is 60 (C). In order to successfully complete this course, the student is required to meet the following evaluation criteria: Project 1 Project 2 Project 3 33.00 34.00 33.00 100.00 % Student must pass the Pass/Fail Safety unit evaluation before access to lab equipment is allowed. All projects must be successfully completed in order to pass this course.
