Grading: All exams/quizzes shall be written and quantitative. The majority will be in class and closed book. Some will be take home. Exams/quizzes shall be derived from lecture materials, assigned readings, and homework. On take-home exams/quizzes, you will be allowed to use any references that you choose; however you must do them by yourselves. The final exam will be cumulative and will address all topics covered in this course. Homework assignments will be derived from material covered in lecture and assigned readings. Homework assignments will be due at the beginning of the class period after they were assigned unless otherwise noted by the professor. Only 1 or 2 problems will be graded on each homework. LATE HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED EXCEPT IN THE CASE OF ILLNESS, EMERGENCY, OR RECEIPT OF PERMISSION. Class Policies: Attendance at examinations and laboratories is mandatory. If you must miss a scheduled laboratory or quiz due to serious illness, family death, accident, etc., notify Professor Weaver as soon as possible. Excuses of a non-urgent nature will not be accepted. Disabilities: Students with disabilities who may require more time than is allotted for the exams/quizzes must contact the UA Office of Disability Services (ODS) to obtain PRIOR APPROVAL and THE PROPER PAPERWORK in accordance with the rules and regulations of The University of Alabama. Alternate exams/quizzes must be scheduled throught the ODS (348-4285). Course Web Site: Some materials, but not all, will be available on the course web site. http://bama.ua.edu/~mweaver/mte556.htm
