WEATHERED TERRA COTTA

MAKING UMBER ACID STAIN Start with one half gallon of water and 10 ounces of hydrochloric acid. Mix up
carefully. Then add 6 tbsp of Sodium Dichromate, add 6 tbsp of Ferric Chloride, add 2 tbsp of Ferrous Chloride, add 8 tbsp of Manganese Chloride.

M AKING DARK BROW N ACID STAINwell once again starts with one half gallon of water and add 10
ounces of hydrochloric acid. Then add 7tbsp of Sodium Dichromate, add 14 tbsp of Ferrous Chloride, add 10 tbsp of Manganese Chloride and let set for 10 minutes. Mix and transfer to a small mouth one gallon jug. Check for settlement in mixing jug. If settlement exists add a small amount of water, mix and transfer also. Top off small mouth jug with water.

DARK BROWN ACID STAIN

Some Salts change over night outside their container or uncovered. Caution
should be taken with these salts. For example Ferric Chloride; is a dark powdery moist substance with a dull sweet odor. If left out it will change to a liquid and at some point crystallize based on temperature and humidity and then change back to a liquid once again.

MAKING AMBER ACID STAIN

Amber is a color that can go in the brown direction and sometimes terra:
Start with one half gallon of water and add 10 ounces of hydrochloric acid. Mix and add 12 tbsp of Ferrous Chloride, then add 6 tbsp of Ferric Chloride. Let it set for 10 minutes and mix. Transfer to a small mouth one gallon jug checking for settlement. If settlement exists add a small amount of water, mix and also transfer. Top off with water

MAKING RED LEATHER ACID STAIN A simple stain to make. Start with one half gallon of water and add 10 ounces of hydrochloric acid and mix. Then add 10 tbsp of Chromic Chloride, 7 tbsp of Ferrous Chloride and let set for 10 minutes. Mix and transfer to a small mouth one gallon jug.. Check for settlement. If it exists add a small amount of water, mix and also transfer. Top off with water.

Red Leather Acid Stain


LETS MAKE BLUE
Start with one half gallon of water and add 10 ounces of hydrochloric acid and mix. Add 8 ounces (1/2 lb.) of Copper Chloride 06 Copper Sulfate and let it set for 1 hour. Transfer to a small mouth one gallon jug. Make sure all Copper transfers. This salt takes more time to dissolve. For a bolder blue, Miracle Grow or another garden variety. Check the contents for Copper derivatives. Notice above we wrote ounces instead of tbsp. Copper Sulfate is usually in crystal form. If blue seams to be dull or weak, step up salt content.

BLUE ACID STAIN

FERN GREEN ACID STAIN starts with one half gallon of water and
10 ounces of hydrochloric acid added and mix. Add 5 ounces of Copper Chloride or sulfate, add 3 tbsp of Sodium Dichromate and 3 tbsp of Ferrous Sulfate and let set for 20 minutes. Mix and transfer making sure all Copper Chloride transferred. This salt takes longer than others to dissolve.
