Word of caution: Which MARC format/workform to use for an electronic resource is tricky. OCLC Bibliographic Formats and Standards, chapter 3, section 9 can help you decide how to code your material: http://www.oclc.org/bibformats/en/specialcataloging/default.shtm#CHDIDIDB Use the computer file workform (Type m in 008) only if your piece is: - Computer software (including programs, games, fonts) - Numeric data - Computer-oriented multimedia - Online system or service If there is a significant aspect that causes it to fall into another Type category, use the workform for that significant aspect. For example, code the item as language material, graphic material, cartographic material, sound recording, music or moving image if that is the significant aspect. In case of doubt or if the most significant aspect cannot be determined, consider the item a computer file. Example: A copy of Homer's Iliad available via the Internet. Use the books workform (Type a), since the item is basically textual, and the electronic aspect is secondary. Use the 007 to code for the electronic aspects. Example: A map on a CD-ROM. Use the maps workform (Type e), since the item is basically cartographic, and the electronic aspect is secondary. Use the 007 to code for the electronic aspects.
