Notes: 1. Values have been calculated using the limit state method described in the European Recommendations for the Design of Sandwich Panels (ECCS document No.115 2001), taking imposed loads, temperature and creep into account. 2. For each value individual and combined load cases with appropriate load factors and temperatures have been considered. These are detailed under Structural Performance in the Building Design Section. The Table is for dark coloured panels. The following deflection limits have been used: Pressure loading Suction loading

5. 6.

For intermediate values linear interpolation may be used. The standard fastener pattern is shown in the construction details. A minimum of two fasteners per panel per rail are required. The allowable suction load can be calculated using the procedure shown in the design example under Structural Performance in the Building Design Section. The allowable steelwork tolerance between bearing planes of adjacent sheeting rails is 5mm. Load span tables for panel specifications not shown are available from the Kingspan Technical Design Bureau.

KS1000 TT - Thermatile Insulated Facade System Vertically Laid

Standard (Non-corrosive) Internal and External Environments

Ref No: 1/5.77/LPS-B

Application
The following specification is for the KS1000 TT - Thermatile Insulated Facade system laid vertically ready to receive Kingspans unglazed ceramic tiles on buildings with an internal humidity class is 1 to 4, as defined in BS EN ISO 13788: 2002. KS1000 TT Thermatile panels are Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB) certified to LPS 1181 Grade B.

Fasteners
Primary All primary fasteners must be self tapping, self drilling screws, manufactured from austenitic Grade 304 stainless steel, and fitted with a 16mm diameter bonded non-ferrous washer. All fasteners to be located through the tongue (male) section of the panel minimum of two per panel per support. To comply with the requirements of BS6399: Part 2: 1997, it may be necessary to provide additional fixings through the male section, in areas of high local suction. Through Fix Where panels have their male sections removed on site, they must be face fixed with a similar type of fastener. The fasteners must be covered by a flashing to maintain the concealed fix appearance. Secondary Flashings to be stitched at 450mm centres (maximum) with carbon steel stitching screws, complete with 14mm diameter bonded non-ferrous washers and colour matched low profiled heads. Tile Rail Fasteners Tile extrusions (Ref No. KS TT A 40 and KS TT A 41) fixed through pre-drilled 8mm diameter holes in external face of insulated KS1000 TT panel with KS TT A FL6 fasteners at maximum 500mm centres. Fasteners General Note Recommended fasteners are available from SFS Intec Limited, Ejot UK Limited, Mage Fasteners Limited, or Ash and Lacy Building Systems Ltd.

Insulated Panel Identification & Labelling When the roofing and /or the wall cladding to this building is completed, a label identifying the composition of the insulated panels is to be fitted. This label illustrates the type of Insulated panels fitted, to assist Insurers, Fire Officers, Owners and Occupiers identify the envelope composition. It is a recommendation of the Kingspan Product Guarantee that the insulated panel identification label, which will have a specific project registration number, is installed in an agreed location. The project architect, cladding subcontractor or owner should locate or instruct the location of these labels in an appropriate and accessible location on the building. Safety The contractor is to determine and use a safe method of working throughout the installation and construction period, which complies with HSE & CDM requirements.

Construction Requirements
Steelwork Tolerance The steel frame must be made and assembled to an accuracy of 5mm between fixing planes of adjacent sheeting rails. Secondary Steel Support Frame The secondary steel framing system to be designed to accept dead weight of panel, plus tiles, as well as the usual life loads. Installation All fasteners and seals to be of correct specification and installed as indicated on the project construction drawings. Site cut panels must provide accurate, true lines with no distortion, panels to be cut with powered reciprocating type saw and all exposed site cut panels to be treated with a suitable edge protection lacquer. Cut openings for outlets, vents, flues etc. to be the minimum size necessary. Remove all swarf and any foreign matter immediately from the external surface of panels.
