REGISTRATION FORM

Please complete the following registration form to enroll your child in a Technology Workshop. There are no charges for the workshops. All costs are funded by the Glendora Education Foundation.

Registration is on a first come, first serve basis. Classes will be offered subject to enrollment, and may be cancelled due to insufficient enrollment. Most classes will accommodate 20-25 students. Requests for changes will be granted only if space permits.

Formerly FGUS, the Glendora Education Foundation is fully funding the GUSD workshops this year meant to inspire & encourage students to explore, invent, and create using technology all for FREE!
KEYBOARDING (GRADES 1-2)

VIDEO GAME DESIGN (GRADES 4-5)

GEOCACHING & GPS (GRADES 6-8)

Using the GameStar Mechanic software, students will learn the tools to creating their own original computer games. Students will have access to software they can download at home in order to continue with programming and creation of their games. AUDIO RECORDING (GRADES 9-12)

Utilizing the Dance Mat Typing computer program, students will learn and practice word processing. Because keyboarding is improved only with practice, students will use this time to gain both accuracy and speed in order to create polished projects in the future. Learn about Geocaching: a high-tech outdoor treasure hunting activity using the Internet and a GPS device to find hidden caches. Students will have the opportunity to find some real geocaches on a light hike. Students will discuss Global Positioning System (GPS), how it works, and what it can be used for. Students are encouraged to bring handheld GPS receivers or Smartphones with GPS capabilities to class, but can attend without one. BROADCASTING PRODUCTION (GRADES 6-8)

From garage band to protools, students will cover commonalities between various software platforms using state of the art sound equipment at Citrus College. Classes will cover advancements in the audio recording industry using cutting edge software. VIDEO GAME PROGRAMMING & DESIGN

Students will learn the basics of camera operation, lighting, green screen, and editing. Working both in front of and behind the camera, students will produce a mock news show which will be uploaded to YouTube for family and friends to view. BASIC COMPUTERS (FOR PARENTS)

KEYBOARDING (GRADES 3-5)

Students will learn proper hand placement, posture, and home row while increasing their speed and accuracy using an instructional software program. Timed tests, group competitions, keyboarding games and projects will be used to motivate students throughout the three week course. Students will be taught basic video game programming using Javascript to investigate how video games are made. Each student will begin to design their own game, perfecting it at home between classes and receive feedback from other students as they test out all the games during the next session. This course is designed for the parents who consider themselves novice computer users and need a gentle approach to basic functions such as setting up an email account, navigating the web and accessing the Aeries Parent Portal.
