Sub-orade Reinforcement:
The materials used for Sub-grade Preparation 3hall comply with the criteria
As per tf)e Soli InvestigationReport, mostof the existing sUb-grade soils in the project area are loo$e soils, which lack stabilityunder wheel load. Therefore the
existing sub-grade :50ils should be reinforced b)' two geogrid layers to gain uniformityand bonding ability and as directed by the Engineer. A Geo Composite Model (5540 G) will be used on top of the loose soils, then an aggregatebase course layer of minimum 30cm thick and maximum 50 mm course size will be -used, and then a scil stabilizer Geogrid (S530) will be placed above the course layer and under the I:mbankmentand the road structure. The specificationsof the twogeogr.idlayersare as follows:

The Quality Contml Strengthof the reinforcing grid[expressed as the lower 95% confidence limit in accordance ~"ithISO2602:1980 (BS 2846:Part 2:1981)] shall be 40.0 kN/m with peak strain of about 11.0% and 10.0%.in the longitudinaland transveN.iedirectionsrespectively at that load, when tested in accordancewith BS EN ISO 10319:1996. In addition,t:heloads at 2% and 5% strain le>tpressed as the lower 95% confidence limit in accordancewith ISO 26 J2:1980 (88 2846:Part 2:1981)]shall be 14.0 kN/m and 28.0 kN/m in both the longitudinal and
transverse directions.
