Oracle Hyperion Smart View for Office (Smart View) is a Microsoft Office Add-in that provides a common interface designed specifically for analysts to interact with the data and business intelligence content that they have stored within their Oracle s !nterprise "erformance Management (!"M) system# One of the most common way of using Smart View is users access !$cel to interactively investigate the data contained in the different sources such as Oracle !ssbase% Hyperion "lanning% or Hyperion &inancial Management (H&M) etc# 'n this post% we will discuss some of the tips and tric(s that we thin( you ll find very useful#

)# *ownloading the right Smart View +lient,

Smart View has gone through many changes over the last few releases# -sers are recommended to upgrade their Smart View client that had been installed on their "+# One ma.or confusion for users though is not (nowing where and which version they should be downloading# /his is because users don t necessarily upgrade their client when they are informed of a change% it could ta(e several months for various reasons# 0hen they have a genuine need to do so later% more changes may have been introduced# &ortunately Oracle has made this a simpler process now# 'f you want to obtain the most compatible version of Smart View client% simply log into Oracle 0or(space and clic( on Tools | Install | Smart View# Oracle 0or(space will prompt you to download the relevant SmartView client#

'n data intersections where there is no data i#e# blan(% Smart View will display 534o*ata6 or 53Missing6 by default depending on the version of your Smart View# /his can cause issues for your !$cel report because both 534o*ata6 and 53M'ssing6 are te$t cells that cannot be computed# One way to overcome this is to configured Smart View to display 7ero in its place# /o do this% clic( on the Options button% under the *ata Options group% you will see the 5#NoData/Missing Label6 setting# Simple type 202 into the field and then press O8#
